anyone beginning to think this whole thing is a fucking scam?

Apparently, Congress is going on vacation tomorrow...

funny considering the "immediate financial danger" we all faced and Bushco. demanded that they rush the 700 billion through or else.

you'd think that if we were going into a depression this thursday, you'd think they'd might have put in a little overtime.

I'm getting the feeling this is what they say it is...

the rich asking for a hand out from the poor.

  • they do have a history of playing up the urgency of things to push through shitty legislation. it's how we ended up with the patriot act and two wars.

a pattern certainly seems to be emerging.

Barney Frank declared he wont be available , hes a Jew! and we all know Jewish holidays are more important than our stupid economy.
  • they're asking for a lot of power and money...they want it now... and they can't say if it'll work or not...the number was pulled out of their ass too..paulson even said it. the reason it sounds fishy is cause it is. the only reason the market went down is cause people by into the fear and started selling.

I think this "bailout" is a scam, too. They're trying one last money grab before bushy leaves office...

All I hear is the urgency, this must happen, it's gotta happen now or else...

basically, this is a market correction due to the bursting of the housing bubble...what goes up, must come down...

I think the marketed this thing wrong...if they had used the term "rescue plan" vs. "bailout" from the start, I'd be willing to bet it would have passed...the price tag didn't help either....paulson pulled the "give me the money or else" card...and many ask "or else what?"....of which paulson couldn't explain beyond the fear, fear, fear crap...

this thing is garbage, and now congress knows that we know it's garbage...

thank goodness this is an election year, cause this would have been passed with ease in a non-election year...and good for the people who contacted their representatives, I know I did....

I really am not knowledgable of all this complicated financial stuff. I handle my money, save my money in as a simplistic manner as possible.

But I am trying to bone-up on all of this and wrap my head around it.

On surface this has seemed rather fishy from the start. All this urgency from Bush (mostly my distrust of him and his administration) and then I keep reading this propsed Bill contains stipulations that gives Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson full and complete control of the $700 Billion, as well as complete immunity from legal and criminal charges/ramifications for his utilization of the $700 billion and whatever deals/transactions he makes, in the future?

That alone makes me highly suspicious.

    Is this true? Anyone know?

If true, why such a clause/stipulation?

I smell a load of corrupt crap piled a mile high. Maybe I'm wrong and it's just my overall distrust of these clowns. But something doesn't seem right, here. Even to someone like me, who's just starting get a grip on all of this.

Our banking history goes far beyond the Patriot Act and our Wars. It goes back to the creation of the Federal Reserve System and this goes back also to the Shock Doctrine and how legislation is made in quick response to solve problems for the wealthy. It's a distraction/diversion having regulations for CEO's, they've made their money. They need to be prosecuted for fraud and placed in jail.

Give relief to the mortgage holders first like me and the markets will settle back down. So hell yes this is ALL a scam especially when you have someone like Paulson trying to implement this plan.

I suspect this is just like a bank hold up, except that the thieves are the executives on Wall St. and they are trying to rob the Federal Reserve with some men on the inside helping them out. Seems like a plot to a bad movie, instead of a high tech robbery, it's a political robbery.

I'm not an economics expert, that's just been my gut feeling ever since this all started.

Self inflicted wounds from deregulation, lack of oversight and greed. Be a good patriot and pay.

Anytime you have a President rushing through a bailout with no oversight or with what little oversight to look into it only after it's signed. Then with hardly any powers to change anything something is seriously wrong.

It must be seriously wrong and MUST be looked into further.

For the most part you are correct, but in all honesty, this economic mess has both parties blood all over it.
