No farm, though it does sound lovely. The threat of terrorism isn't great enough for you to change your lifestyle or live in fear. But clearly reasoning has no place in the mind of the person who needs to be what to be frightened of instead of weighing out the dangers for himself.

I havent changed my lifestyle at all. or live in fear. I live pissed off when I hear islamic fucks want to blow up innocent people while they Christmas shop.

what about timmy mcveigh and his buddy? prior to 9/11 the biggest terrorist attack on america soil was the product of 2 white male american whackos... not islamic terrorists. other than that, there was 9/11, and the first WTC bombing. i cant think of any others. what am i missing? terrorist attacks on american soil rarely happen.

what about them? those white male american wackos were the only domestic attack ever. and they are not part of a dedicated group set out to kill as many americans as possible.

since 9/11, el queda has launched attacks around the world. tough security has prevented such attacks from happening in the US, again.

prior to the first WTC bombing in 1993, el queda wasnt the worldwide threat as it is today. the planning for 9/11/01 started after the 1993 attack failed to bring the buildings down.

so in the past 20 years, you've got 3 terrorist attacks on US soil. 1 by americans, 2 by a terrorist organization. 3 in 20 years. know what your odds are?

i still think it's ridiculous to act like this is a clear and imminent danger to all of us that we should be thinking about constantly. the thought of being killed in a terrorist attack has never crossed my mind. never. not ever. not once. if you're truly worried about it, i think you've got problems. not that that means we shouldn't be aware and take measures to avert it. but it certainly doesn't keep me up at night and enrage me about those godamn muslims. im more afraid of/angry at the nra and the way they ensure that cheap guns keep flowing into south chicago, making it unsafe for me to go south of grant park.

People like to rob people while they christmas shop.....MUCH, MUCH, MUCH MORE OFTEN. Why don't you dig up some stories on that so we can all debate this pressing issue and get pissed off.

What do you propose? Ban all Muslims from shopping malls? Just not shop? Is Bush being too soft on terrorism? What is the point of this thread?*I know you're not the starter but I thought you might have some insight.* To prove crazy fucks inhabit this planet? Great...proven.

3 that have been successful. how many have been stopped?

personally, i live my life today the same way i've always lived it. get up, shower, eat, work, pay bills, fuck, shit, repeat (not necessarily in that order). the only time i think about terrorism is when i hear something has happened or a plot has been stopped.

Chill dude, Rockford's like an hour away. Today on my way home from jury duty, while walking to the train I passed that office building as that gunman was shooting people. Literally the first cop car was arriving and people were shouting at us to get away.. I hopped on the last train before Union station was shut down.. so many more ways to die in life than worry about terrorism.

I think the odds are you'll have a better chance dieing in Iraq as a soldier rather than here from a terror attack.. That said, your chances of dieing in a car accident are 1000x greater so you best stay home this weekend and never drive again.

the intial report said Chicago on Michigan ave, the largest shopping area in the midwest. thousands of people from around the world shop there daily. I live 2 blocks away and do all my shopping there.

but your right, I didnt know it was Rockford until later. had I known, I would not be concerned.

Funny you mention the hostage situation. I work in that same building on a lower floor. We were on lockdown. not kidding.

if I can repsond to the others....I have explained many times why I believe terrorism is a threat, more for me than others. I believe for the most part, major cities like New york, Chicago and LA are possibly the only 3 targets terrorist focus on. I live and work in the center of downtown with about 1 million other people. I take public transportation daily. live near a major federal court house and work near the sears tower. which was already a target. el queda has only been a threat since the early 90s. before that terrorism wasnt a threat to americans, espically on american soil. so soul, your example of only 3 terror attacks is misleading. its the 3rd successful attack on innocent american citizens. (2 el queda). since 1993. before 1993 there was no threat. as the years have gone on, el queda has become more determined to attack us, as seen on 9/11, and bush's polices have probably lead to more radical terrorists wanting to join the cause. my point is, terrorism is still a growing threat.

so please dont give me the chances are higher bullshit of dying in a car crash. I dont drive a car. I take public transportation, which has been a target in london by el queda. and a foiled plot to attack new yorks subway system.

I dont live in fear, I dont change my lifestyle. why else would I live near targets, take public transporation, and fly on planes? fuck them. I live pissed off that they are still around. I am pissed off that bush didnt finish them off if afgahistan.

i will agree with your points about la, nyc, and chicago, and bush not exactly helping the situation. im glad this dude got stopped. i just also think the danger posed by terrorism is exaggerated and exploited by most politicians and it's kinda insulting. plus there's the boy who cried wolf effect. you keep playing up the terrorist threat for polls and eventually nobody will believe you when a real one emerges.
  • unabomber? anybody

    Kip Kinkel?
    Columbine?
    mcVeigh?

how many murders daily in the us by Americans?

the threat of terrorists is still...

    very
    very

    tiny

But if you want to live in fear over terrorists, I think you need to re-focus your fear on lightning. Talk about scary. And Honey Bees ~shudder~

Seriously, the threat of terrorism is so small... it's hardly a threat.

The changes are much higher you'll die of any kind of accident. Your house is a fucking death trap compared to the terrorism threat.

i say, give the guy a solitary confinement cell and a grenade (which is what he wanted to do to others). After he pulls the pin, let him know it's a long-time-delayed grenade, so he'll not know when it'll go off... except he doesn't know its inert.

you mean they didn't know what kinds of ppl they were beforehand?? even the cia stated they knew these were bad ppl, but they were useful at the time. that's a major flaw in us policy, no looking ahead a decade or so...out of our past 5 wars 4 of them have been situations the us created to take out ppl the us helped put and keep in power while they werte doing the bad things they used as justifications for later.

these mistakes kill thousands-millions and it's 'ah, it's hard sometimes to have hindsight...' but some guy steals a 26oz bottle of malt beer <an act which kills or even physically harms no one> and he's some fucker who deserves being tackled, punched in his face, having some guy stomp on his ankles and legs....?
