so is Stephanopoulos taking notes from hannity now?

that debate was a disgrace. 45 minutes until a real question was asked. pretty sickening.

the best question:

"Does Reverend Wright love America as much as you do?"

wtf kind of question is that? Obama would have won my vote if he just said it was a moronic question and refused to answer. too bad.

I think if the guy wants to be president of the US, it's a good idea for voters to actually know how he feels about the country. judging from some of his associations and his wife, I think some of the questions were completely justified. I mean, if he views the country with the same amount of contempt as some of his associates, maybe he's NOT the man to be leading the country. it's not like he's had anything much to say as far as issues go other than, "change, change, change".

then grill him on the issues and make him say something besides change change change. I don't give a flying fuck about people they have mild associations with. I want to know their positions on Iraq, Iran, recession, gas prices, illegal immigration. MAKE THEM SPELL IT OUT.

a question or two about character is great. spending the most of the first hour on it is bullshit.
  • ABC should have just hired Hannity to pose the question.

Meanwhile, McCain gets to sit back while the Democratic candidates destroy each other.

Is this country really going to give Bush a third term!

Stephanopoulos is a Clinton croney, so it was odd that ABC allowed that obvious conflict of interest. On the other hand, the media spent the better part of the year ripping Hillary and glad-handing Obama, so I guess the pendulum is swinging back the other way.

I disagree, people can find out a lot about you by the people you associate with. Obama's list of America Hating friends seems to be growing.

Once the election really begins, he's going to get blasted by the Republicans for it. It's one after the other....for God's sake, he was on a board of directors willingly with an admitted terrorist. A blatant racist was his spritual advisor. lol Yeah, he's going to get elected.

If it had been a Republican debate and the questions would have been about their big business friends, you all would eat it up.

    you remember this quote:
"I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.'"

    Interesting question:

Do you think if Barack Obama had left his seriously ill wife after having had multiple affairs, had been a member of the “Keating Five,” had had a relationship with a much younger lobbyist that his staff felt the need to try and block, had intervened on behalf of the client of said young lobbyist with a federal agency, had denounced then embraced Jerry Falwell, had denounced then embraced the Bush tax cuts, had confused Shiite with Sunni, had confused Al Qaeda in Iraq with the Mahdi Army, had actively sought the endorsement and appeared on stage with a man who denounced the Catholic Church as a whore, and stated that he knew next to nothing about economics — do you think it’s possible that Obama would have been treated differently by the media than John McCain has been? Possible?

And — this is fun to contemplate — if Michelle Obama had been an adulteress, drug addict thief with a penchant for plagiarism — do you think that she would be subject to slightly different treatment from the media than Cindypills McCain has been? Anyone?

Gawd lets hope so. But this is a country run by a dominate "liberal media" (Disney, Viacom and GE) so I really doubt it.

But the media loves McCain and his "Straight Talk Express"... they wouldn't want to bring stuff like that up, would they?

Once someone brings out the "america hating" or "he hates america" rhetoric, it really shows the level of gullibility out there. You haven't been around here much, but you are way to smart for that crap Drew...

I was hoping for more substance, but ended up disappointed last night. What with the glorified soundbyte laden Q&A the media and others erroneously call a debate. Not the way I remember debating in school. Then again, most politicians call our Constitutional Republic a Democracy , so I shouldn't be surprised about what passes for " debate".

I watched despite the fact that I'm Libertarian and wouldn't touch a Demican or Republicrat with a ten foot poll. I guess I like being reminded why I told the two party system to take a hike.

Everytime I read something or see a new clip of some crap they are spewing, I'm reminded of that choice. And I feel a sense of freedom with it, too...knowing that when either of those 3 nitwits gets in office and continues our country down this same road of horrible, imperialist foreign policy and military expansion...it won't be because I helped vote them in this time or choose to turn a blind eye to things that shouldn't be excusable. My conscience will be clear.

People keep saying this. But Bush and McCain fucking HATE each other. They aren't alike in very many ways.

Honestly, attempting to blow up the Pentagon is a little more serious than this, no?

If it was discovered McCain had associations with the guys who murdered James Byrd, you people would be all up his ass.

i feel a sense of freedom when i step back and realize it doesn't really matter who wins the presidency, i have control over my own destiny, and barack o bama or george bush really don't effect that :)

There are numerous contenders for worst question, but I have to nominate that video thing from that woman talking about the American flag lapel pin. Was that even a question?

If anything, the whole event was a sad indictment on today's media standards.
