I rarely agree with anything jlew24asu says but he is one of more intelligent posters here. He doesn't just parrot O'Reilly's or Rush - he has his own opinions and defends them mercilessly.:D
I must have missed the intelligent posts while reading the merciless defending posts. I'll have to try and find one that is well-read.

My position is that it wasn't right to do in front of the kids, but if it were anywhere else, God bless. Lord knows you certainly can't do it at a Bush rally either.
Now that bus driver probably has a CIA file three inches thick.
yes you can do it at a bush rally. and about him having a CIA file is complete speculation.
You're probably right. She went from being a bus driver to now being quasi famous. Maybe the flipping bird wasn't the stupidest move she could have made after all.

The bus driver was terminated for making an obscene gesture in view of the students,” Niegowski said. “That’s not the role modeling we need for our students.”
I would agree
...
If your kid's Role Model is the school bus driver...
...
then, man... are you doing one shitty parenting job.

kids learn from example. a bus driver, no matter how much you choose to belittle, is someone kids look up as ad adult everyday while they are picked up to go to school.

I remember the school bus drivers... they might have been your role models, not so much for me.
And Middle school kids... that's what, 12 to 15 year old kids? You'd think they'd seen someone flip the bird by that age. I know I did when I was that age.

Quick! Put a bag over your kid's head! There's a crackhead on the street corner!! Kids see shit all the time.
How about teaching your child to use their brain and decide what is a good decision and what's not. They should be taught to look up to people with qualities that are deserving not just any bus driver or who ever.

dude, stop pushing buttons. I didnt say a bus driver was my role model. it certainly could be for some kids. its besides the point anyway. you cant argue that its ok for the bus driver to do that in front of children. its a very bad example
there's no way she would've been fired had she flipped off just any joe blow. these aren't babies on the bus, they're 12 to 14 year olds that know what the middle finger means and I can assure you that it wouldn't faze any of those kids the least little bit.
I'd be flipping the bird too if i had to sit completely stopped in traffic (not even able to pull onto the highway) with a bus full of horrid middle schoolers so that the Idiot and Chief's motorcade could go on it's merry way to a fund-raiser for Dave Reichert and the Republican Party.

Come on. You can't be serious. They are Middle school aged kids... quit treating them like little babies who need to be sheltered from the finger. Give 'em a little credit... they aren't as stupid (and innocent) as you want them to be.

and that is one hell of a responsibility...........

She wasn't drunk or speeding, was she?
Bottom line... she is a BUS DRIVER. Kids don't want to be bus drivers... they want to be basketball players and rock stars... their role models are Kobe Bryant and Kid Rock. That should be the scary thing.

i do not believe she should have been fired. I have had a teacher once freak out and swear, i've even seen them get angry, fuck i even had a great teacher once teach me 'power corrupts absolute power corrups absolutly', She/He should be warned and not scorned for democracy, he/she should have explained to the children if they were so effeted by the gesture. Children or not, im sure we have all seen it from our bus drivers/teachers when growing up. Its life its actions, its not like he/she was drinking and driving.

I realize its hard for you to stomach someone's strong opinons when you completely disagree. its easier to right someone off as a dumbass.

its posts like this that completely miss the point
Who's point?
I'd fire a school bus driver flipping the bird out the window at anyone.
I'd also fire the incompetant monkey in the limo.

Like teaching your child to NOT give someone the middle finger in front of young kids.

I agree that flipping the bird wasn't the brightest idea but how does that endanger the children's lives or safety? That's a bit of a stretch.
