What a way to start a concert. Just gave it a listen. WOW.
Talk about a hard-hitting start.
I was there. It was a hard-hitting start. Everyone was shocked at Alive being the opener. It hadn't been done since sometime in '91.
That is an underrated show. The WMD stuff was hilarious and I think that was one of the best Black performances of the tour. It goes on forever, has one of Mike's better solos, and a unique tag.
Ahhh, the good old days, when PJ would actually bless us with their appearance down here. I remember when they announced the tour how crushed I was that I was still in Indiana at school when they would be doing their Texas shows. I then realized that they wouldn't be swinging through Dallas, my hometown, until the early summer when I would be home for about a month's time. I remember that show and loved it. I had to go back up to Purdue to finish up some business classes a few days later, but was able to catch the show in Noblesville shortly after I made it back up that way. Pretty awesome shows all around and a great summer.
Now I am anxiously awaiting PJ's return down here and will cut them some slack for choosing to avoid playing here in the terrible heat during the summer. We do have gorgeous weather in the fall though, so come on guys, make it down here, it has been 5 years.
That would be a riotous way to start a concert. I'd give it a listen, but I'm currently engrossed in the Vic Theatre show for the first time.
How did they close that show? I guess I could just look it up, but I'm trying to keep the conversation going.
The encores were a bit ho-hum:
Encore 1: Arc, Can't Keep, SOLAT, Small Town, Black, RVM
Encore 2: Crazy Mary, RITFW
Still though, one of my favorite ways to start a show, even though I love hearing Alive close an encore. I think the Philly 05 show was one of the greatest starts to a show too: Wash, Brain of J, Hail Hail, Spin The Black Circle.
