I don't know anyone who didn't think he was slinging bullshit at his first hearing about the firing of attornies. Glad to see they might actually catch him on it. Be nice to see them ensnare Rove in the net too. For the full story click on the link.

Dems seek Gonzales probe and subpoena Rove
Senate Democrats seek perjury inquiry, eye Bush aide in widening probe

WASHINGTON - Senate Democrats called for a special counsel to investigate whether Attorney General Alberto Gonzales lied under oath and subpoenaed top presidential aide Karl Rove Thursday in a widening probe into the dismissal of federal prosecutors.
"It has become apparent that the attorney general has provided at a minimum half-truths and misleading statements," four members of the Senate Judiciary Committee wrote in a letter to Solicitor General Paul Clement.
They dispatched the letter shortly before Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., announced the subpoena of Rove, the president's top political strategist.

"We have now reached a point where the accumulated evidence shows that political considerations factored into the unprecedented firing of at least nine United States Attorneys last year," said Leahy, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
In response, White House spokesman Tony Fratto said that “every day congressional Democrats prove that they’re more interested in headlines than doing the business Americans want them to do. And Americans are now taking notice that this Congress, under Democratic leadership, is failing to tackle important issues,” he said.
Gonzales is at the center of the U.S. attorney controversy, but the call for a perjury probe involved alleged conflicts between testimony he gave the Judiciary Committee in two appearances, one last year and the other this week. The issue revolves around whether there was internal administration dissent over the president’s warrantless wiretapping program.
As for the firing of the prosecutors, e-mails released by the Justice Department show Gonzales’ aides conferred with Rove on the matter.

I was listening to this on NPR the other day. It didn't sound like it was just democrats... the republicans were furious with him as well. From what I heard, the guy blatantly lied and now sounds like he is trying to cover your tracks. The real question is... will Bush block his prosecution if it comes to that?? He's already proven members of his staff don't go to jail.

does anyone really think anything is gonna happen? gonzo will be out of office before the special prosecuter does anything. and if you think rove will honor a subpoena then you are fooling yourself. sorry to have such a negative tone tonght, but king george will not allow anyone in his administration to be held accountable by anyone for anything. we have to get these guys out of office now.

in a hypothetical situation, i was wondering what the law states, can they be arrested and tried after they finish their terms?
