Too bad you live in Texas, like me, where your vote won't count this year, much as it didn't in the last several elections.

I am not a filthy rich ceo and I have been fine. I bought 2 houses and sold one I have a few cars(paid one off and almost have the other paid off), I go to concerts/shows I travel and pretty much do what I want. Hell tonight me and the wife are going down to AC for some Ruths Chris steaks and to play some tables. We are doing fine and we live within our means and treat ourselves every now and then.

Oh, I am going to vote. I just dislike the electoral college, especially when you are in a state that always goes so heavily in one direction.

Would you have an issue with the electoral college if your state voted the way you agree with. I am in Mass. my vote never counts our state legislature is close to 90% dems. We trot out embarrassments like Barney Frank and Teddy Kennedy

In the world of the Dems you are Rich. Since you are employed you must have stepped on some little people along the way.

Yes. I just think it is outdated.

The electorial college is outdated. It was intended to make things more even when more people lived in rural areas. To insure everyone's vote counts we need to count everyone's vote.

But voting for your senators and representative is different than presidential votes.

At least for those offices, the popular vote is the be all end all... With the stupid electoral college, the popular vote is superseded by some political formula that assigns each state a number.

Actually, your vote has NEVER counted.

The only people who have a direct vote for president are those in the electoral college - and even they don't have to listen to your vote. It has happened before (82 times) that the electors were supposed for vote for a certain candidate but didn't. They are called Faithless Electors:

    http://www.fairvote.org/e_college/faithless.htm

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faithless_elector

Although it has yet to make a difference in an election, it bothers me that even though we vote, the electors are not bound to follow our votes...which makes me wonder why even vote in the first place. I'm personally a consciencious objector until we can have a popular election so that EVERY VOTE COUNTS. Until then, good luck with the system.
