Things you would do to make a change or a difference

Imaging you actually had some power to affect a change in the world, your country, or community; what would you do?
Here's things I'd do:
-Free electricity and gas or the elderly, or those who are permanently disabled
-Free Tampax and sanitary towels. I mean, if you had no money what are you supposed to do, use newspapers and rags?
-Make all children learn at least one other foreign language other than just English.
-Bring back youth centres, where they can mix and do activities together. Where I'm from, they've closed down quite a few. Subsequently, you hear stories about underage drinking out on the streets, about hoodies and about childhood obesity cause they just sit on their arse all day long watching TV and playing with Playstation and Sega - do the math....
All contraception to be free and over the counter, or free for those who can't afford it. The pill is free for anyone and any age, and so is the diagphram. But you have to pay for condoms.
10 years in prison for first time offenders who molest children, with intensive, extensive counselling and rehabilitation being mandatory for these people...

damn straight on the sanitary pad issue, and yeah, women used to use rags, sew them together

I volunteer with a local environmental agency that focuses on being carbon neutral/sustainability/oceans and fisheries.
I sit on a board that helps downtown Vancouver Eastside sex trade workers exit.
I try to shop locally & eat less meat.
I take mass transit.
Oh and I now shower regularily, so, like a lot of people in my community benefit from less stink.
Having a shower is hardly making a statement to make a change in the world. You are doing people are favor by not having them endure you stench and BO now
flat tax rate. government gets a fund and spends in accordance with the prior year's tax take, not a cent more. work out a system of user and luxury taxes to slowly replace or at least massively reduce income taxes. shift this burden to the states and downsize federal government.
change term lengths... 10 years for the senate, 6 for president, 3-4 for representatives. NO incumbents. you can only be elected once.
I'm not sure whether to laugh at you, or pat you on the back. I think your ideas on taxation and smaller government are pristene though.

why the laughter then? is something ive said foolish? i think you'd be surprised at some of the ideas ive got. including overturning roe v wade, despite being pro-choice. can your mind reconcile that? im all for people determining their lives for themselves.
Teach the world the beauty and true blessing a child or individual can be who has Down syndrome or any other disability. Yes, they have challenges, but in many ways these people are better than us "normal" folk. Society in general, doesn't give these kids a chance, but I'd turn that around (I just need a lot of help, especially with the media and medical profession.)
