It's the kids' fault, not Foley's

Matt Drudge is on record blaming the kids in this sick scandal, claiming Foley was a "poor innocent victim" in all of this. What an idiot. I have seen some Conservative spin jobs before but this takes the case.

  • But aren't they always screaming about personal responsibilty?

Apparently not when these teenage boys are trying to seduce and take advantage of them. Next thing you know these kids will become enemy combatants and flown to Syria for interrogation.

hey if the GOP can plan 9-11 and destroy american towers and blame it on some guy in Afghanistan in a cave, then surely the democrats can orchestrate Foley's demise using IM's...granted it's not as sophisticated as 9-11 but the dems have to sharpen their teeth on something so they can conspire to steal the upcoming election better than the repubs... I think Foley is an innocent pawn in all of this.

ok, all kidding aside, he's (foley) a pretty sick man to be doing that stuff.

Look at the original thread. It seems liberals didn't care that he was a pedophile. They cared that he was being lobbied by big business.

Seems like both sides on this one have skewed perspectives.

Silly goose... of course it's not Foley's fault. Those young males pages are just so damn sexy... prancing around in those tight pant... suits... alterboy outfits... it just drives the closet queens silly.

I didn't say that, of course. But I do question priorities when kids are being abused and we read have to read rantings about lobbying and big business.

I disagree - you look at most of the posts (mine included) in that original thread and it was almost entirely: this is a sick man.

How anyone can turn this into a partisan issue is beyond me.

The man made innappropriate sexual comments to a minor.

    Period.

You do not get to serve in Congress anymore.

I totally agree. That was my sentiment in the original thread.

I just thought it odd that the other thread suggested that the sexual assault of a minor was none of our business and we should focus on big business contributions. That is also sick.

The problem is we all agree that the sexual assualt is sick but some of us act like the other crime is nothing to bother ourselves about.

Incidentally, the Christian Right went crazy when the Clinton/Lewinsky thing came out, where the hell are they now? Just cause Foley's a republican they decide to shut up.

Just caught the Daily Show's rundown of the rest of the liberal media's handling of the Foley incident. My faviorite was when Bill O'Reilly put the responsibility directly on Foley and the caption under the photo said:

    Rep. Mark Foley
    (D) Florida

    "Media Views
Brad Blog: Incredible! Fox 'News' Labels Foley as Dem During O'Reilly Factor! (10/3/06) by Brad Friedman

Three times during the O'Reilly Factor's October 3 broadcast, the show ran video footage of Mark Foley with a label--what they call a "lower third"--identifying him as "Former Congressman Mark Foley (D-FL)." It's hard to believe that there's anyone in the news business who doesn't know that Foley is a Republican--particularly given the widespread talk about how his sex scandal might cause Republican House Speaker Dennis Hastert to resign.
But assuming it was an honest mistake...how come when the show was re-aired, the lower third was removed entirely--rather than replaced by one with the correct information? If it was important to identify Foley by party when he was thought to be a Democrat, why isn't it just as important to correctly identify him as a Republican? We suppose that's why Dick Cheney insists on always having his hotel room TV sets tuned to Fox News. "
I am so amazingly cool you could keep a side of meat in me for a month.
  • Can't criminal charges be brought against someone who did this?

Also, I want to see someone seriously defend Fox for labeling him a dem. and never correcting it. Go ahead, what's their excuse on this one?
