Roo vs MSG

File this under: Just My Opinion, but...

I would gladly give up my opportunity to see the band at MSG twice this tour for the opportunity to see them at Roo...

I have my ten club tix for both shows at MSG (and Camden) and I'm psyched to be going, but I really wanted to go to Roo and just take in the whole 4 day festival experience.

But with a 4 year old and a 2 year old running around here, there's no way the wife and I could go on that long a road trip (from NJ) and be away from the kids. We toyed with the idea of bringing them, but between the heat and the crowds I think they would be miserable.

I'm excited to see the band at MSG, but I've seen every other Pearl Jam show at the Garden and I wanted to try something a little different....

All right... I'll stop feeling sorry for myself now before the people on the west coast get pissed off that I'm whining about seeing the band at an amazing venue.

    Hell NO !! lol.

im not going to any shows this tour, but would rather see them at MSG over ROO. im just not into the festival type deal though. id rather go see my favorite band when its "their show" instead of a weekend full of lots of stuff i dont want to hear or see, just to get to my band.

i guess it would be cool to do once, but for the most part, im not into it.

    I hear ya...

But I'm looking at from the "journey along the way" is more important than the "destination" perspective.

To me... packing up the truck and driving to Tennessee to see Pearl Jam is a lot more fun than hopping on the train for a 90 minute ride into the city.

I remember when my wife and I drove from NJ to Ohio to see Pearl Jam in 2000, we had a blast stopping along the way and checking stuff out. One of my best memories from the trip was when we stumbled across the Ohio State Fair. Being from NJ we had never been to something like that... it was HUGE. Just a cool experience all around that was highlighted by seeing the band every couple of days.

im with ya on that. i live in ohio, and have only seen them here twice. every other time i have had a drive of over 3 hours. take that back, i seen them in toledo ohio for the No Code tour. so ive seen them here 3 times.

my favorite shows have been the shows i had to travel a bit to see them.

i just dont think i could take 3 or 4 days in that crowd.

we almost went to ROO, but i just told my gf that i would prob. kill someone after the first night ! lol. i dont dig huge crowds so much, and a whole weekend of a GIANT crowd would get to me. lol.

i see where your coming from though.
    Peace, Love.

I can understand if you want to do that because you like the atmosphere of the festival better, but there's no chance of you seeing a better show at Bonnaroo than anywhere else on the rest of this tour, especially MSG and Camden.
I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

Egh, road trippin is always fun, especially to see your favorite band. But I think you'll change your mind once you step inside msg on the 24th. THe excitement....the anticipation....the buzz in the crowd.....theres just nothing like seeing a show at the garden, especially Pearl Jam. Ive seen PJ in quite a few different venues and theres just a different buzz and excitement when its the garden. Same with Bruce, its just something about the garden you know its gonna be something special just from the pre-show atmosphere inside waiting for them to come on. I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen PJ at MSG 4 times already and 20 years from now I'd rather have the experience of 4 times at MSG and once at Roo than 6 times at MSG and no Roo :)
