Moore Says Weinstein Wanted Clinton Scene Cut

Michael Moore is getting a lot of mileage out of the hit he takes on Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) in his provocative new movie "Sicko," which made its Washington premiere Wednesday night at the Uptown theater.

Moore said after the premiere that movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, a personal friend and supporter of the Clintons whose company financed the film, "begged" him to remove a scene exposing Hillary Clinton as the second-highest recipient of campaign donations from the health-care industry.

"I said, 'No, Harvey. I gotta do the right thing.' He understood."

Moore said he didn't know whether the Clintons asked Weinstein to make the call.

The film describes her as "sexy" and "sassy" as photos of Clinton over the years are splashed on the screen.

After her health-care overhaul plan failed, Clinton went "silent" -- as Moore put it -- on the need for health-care changes. And then she began raking in the dough -- big time -- from the industry when she started running for office.

Clinton's campaign had no comment on Weinstein's attempt to have the scene removed.

That lousy propagandistic liberal bastard. We'd probably never have heard about the contributions if they were received by a politician with a "D" next.... to..... her....... wait a minute.

Personally I think this is just another in a long list of Moore pimping himself.

It's already in the movie right? Who cares if someone asked him not to put it in there. He is using the Clintons to build some interest in his movie simply so people will think how great he is.

I don't really think Moore ahas anyone's interest in mind while making a film other than his own.

Hey, I'm no fan of Hillary, but as usual, the way Moore goes about things makes it easy to see he is only looking out for #1.

Have Matt Damon and Ben Affleck put their two cents in yet? God knows we couldn't move forward with our lives until those two Weinstein cronies told us what they thought of SICKO.

    Oh fuxin nice...

I know! I've been wating until they put out a statement and give us all the official bat signal before I dared rounding up my few brain cells to think long enough to form an opinion on this. I wonder what's taking them so long?

:p Seriously, I'm gonna wait until I see it at the theater. I like seeing films I think I'll like first on the big screen.

  • Just out of interest, many of us Brits like to watch these Michael Moore films because it makes us feel good about the country we live and we can laugh at the all-mighty USA for few minutes, but has any of Michael Moores films changed anything? After bowling for Columbine guns are still legal, i'm not sure what the point of faranheit 9/11 was but US troops are still in Iraq, so i'm guessing nothing much is gonna change in health care provision in the US.
I dont disagree with any of Moore's points but he has gone on to change very little. He jumps from bandwagon to bandwagon, at least Geldof has stuck to one cause and no matter how painfully slow he's been he has brought some change to Africa, but Moore is just becoming a laughing stock.

Sounds like you've had a pathetic life. I'm happy you've found something that makes you feel good about yourself for a few minutes.

Please dont throw your toys out the pram on my account. Do you think i actually watch Michael Moore films because i'm really deeply interested on how America thinks and works.
Please give me a break, if most Americans actually cared about other countries the way you think we should be interested about yours, then you wouldnt have the foreign policy you have now.

I had the chance to see Sicko last week and Moore wasn't too critical of Clinton. In fact, he was kind of sympathetic. She was simply set up for failure when she took on health care as first lady. One group he's not sympathetic to is the insurance industry. Money hungry bastards.
Keep the big door open and everyone will come around.

    Cincy... we meet again.

Everyone looks out for number one, you included. Mike has made a movie about our health care system with the intent to plant enough seeds to FIX IT! Who cares if he is "liberal" or whatnot... Will that keep you from receiving the important message he is trying to give you???

If he wanted to be famous, he could have continued to do movies like "Canadian Bacon" , "Roger and Me", and "The Big One, and never ventured into alienating many of his viewers by making "Bowling For Columbine", and "Fahrenheit 9/11"... He did what he felt was right, and used his talents to plant seeds.

I'll watch it, and I agree already with the premise that the health Care system needs overhauled...I still think he cares less about making an impact and more about getting on TV and being famous.

Why else would he pimp a private conversation between himself and someone else that is nto relevant to the cause he is supposedly undertaking?

I don't care that he's a liberal...I defend Hillary in that post by the way...I care that he is an ass.

Hillary in Mr. Burns voice.... "You've made a powerful enemy today...fat man.."
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
