I find this fascinating. What do you say where you come from, referring to the generic form of soda.

    I say coke 'cuz I was raised in the South. Although, after nearly 20 years in the southwest I'm starting to say soda so people know what I mean. :)

    I think it is weird that one little county in California -- Trinity County -- says "Coke." All the other counties say soda.

    This thread gets posted at least twice a year and becomes hilarious as people get upset by what others call it. ;)

    Personally, I call it rust remover.

    I'm from Chicago. I'd say I hear 2/3 of people here call it pop, maybe 1/3 call it Soda..

    coke is fucking stupid. that's like calling all beer 'guiness.' coke is a brand name, not a generic reference to all sugar infused carbon water drinks.

    i use a tissue. it's generic target brand ;)

    advertising assaults only work on the weak-minded. thus, no surprise the south can't wrap their heads around more than one name and just call it all coke.
