Just curious about this. I have read a lot about people who were on the fence and who are now leaning Obama based on this decision. There must be people on the other side of this, and I am curious why.

I'd like to see a poll posted asking how many have switched from Obama to McCain or McCain to Obama because of this decision. I'm also wondering how many have switched from neutral/undecided or 3rd-party candidates to either McCain or Obama since the VP announcement. But I don't know how to post a poll. :o

I've heard more people going over to Obama because of his choice of Biden more so than McCain choice of Palin.

See, I've heard the opposite. Biden's announcement didn't affect the polls at all while Palin's announcement has brought a record breaking fund raising weekend for the Republicans and in the CNN poll narrowed Obama's lead to one, gave McCain a 2 point lead in Zogby's poll, and cut Obama's lead in half in Rasmussen's polls. What these polls mean is meaningless but a lot of conservatives who were sitting out this election are going to vote now.

My aunt and two of my friends mom's who haven't voted since Reagan and Bush senior are now voting for McCain. I think there is a group of older white suburban moms who are going to vote for McCain now.

Me, I'm still probably voting for the Libertarian candidate.

Is it just me or does the choice of Palin for a VP look a lot more like a political suicide by McCain than a smart move? (see poll evolutions)
If I were a little paranoid and conspirationist... ;)

it truly, truly scares me that there are people in this world who might actually believe in palin's extremist pov....at least extremist in my mind. it also reminds me just how MUCH the 'average american' and i have, actually, so little common ground if this is the case.

  • I just can't imagine that someone who could be wooed by Palin's very conservative political positions would have been for Obama anyway. I dunno...

It just seems to me like McCain's camp is trying to sell the idea to Hilary voters that all women are basically interchangeable, and they should vote for him now.

I'd love to see a poll of registered Hillary voters from the primary, to see how it's affecting their vote.

i have said this often enough in this forum....i cannot for the life of me imagine a hilllary supporter suddenly becoming a mccain/palin supporter, simply b/c he chose a woman. palin and clinton have NOTHING in common beyond gender, so any true suppporter of her ideas and ideals could NO WAY suddenly switch to mccain. it makes zero sense. that said, i am not saying it won't happen....just saying they obviously weren't true supporters of hillary and her ideals.

You'd have to be a blithering moron to switch your vote to McCain, because of Palin.

I wouldn't switch to it, but I like that ticket better than I did before they had Palin.
