since anytime you even mention some of the heinous acts of our government you are labeled as "hating america" and then the "america does no good" comments start pouring in by a select few that appear to be not capable of honest critique of their wonderful government, i have decided to make a thread where we can post all of the GREAT things america has done in her short history.

i am serious, here is your chance folks. document the things you love about the USA and the GREAT things she has done over the centuries.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. "

Got that one right from the start.

The economy has polarized to the point where the wealthiest 10% now own 85% of the nation’s wealth. Never before have the bottom 90% been so highly indebted, so dependent on the wealthy.

America has provided more financial and humanitarian aid to the Third World than any other nation ... Not all such aid gets used appropriately, and many will argue that this is still paying lip service to the problem (an argument that has some validity), but the fact remains that other nations may do more, when proportion of GNP is used as the metric, but not in terms of sheer dollar amounts.

And to add to the WW-II point ... American aid also rebuilt Europe post-war. France and the U.S. were super-tight (up until the recent Iraq invasion) for a reason.

It has provided some of the BEST music festivals around this country. Last night at the Sunfest Festival here in Palm Beach FL I quickly listened to Sheryl Crow and guess who comes out and play for and with her....none other than Eric Clapton.

....And I wasn't there to see her though, I was there to see my friend Michael Franti and his band SPEARHEAD. A great way to meet new friendly people who want badly to get backstage.:)
