actually opening the record and putting into an acid free slip and into a plastic sleeve is the smartest thing to do. over time the original shrink wrap can shrink even more and will damage the cover. it can also cause the outline of the LPs to come through on the cover too.

hmm good to know... thanks ... ive got those sleeves for all my albums but did it more for the clean, organized look than the archival reasons

i didn't know that either, but thankfully i found an article on the net (or in a magazine i don't remember). and if you are really nuts about collecting you clean your records every so often (at least those you take out and touch).
