ok, so i dont ever remember a thread dedicated to political art... so here it is
Feel free to post links and pictures to some of your favorite political artwork, and your interpretation if you'd like. Post links to the artists as well if you would like
Here is my favorite... the Pearl Jam poster from the 2006 Washington DC show... created by Brad Klausen, a pearl jam designer and poster artist
Obviously the artist was not pulling any punches when it came time to use the Washington DC poster to convey a very powerful message using imagery. The reaper cloaking himself under wraps of the beautiful American flag, while wielding a blood soaked sickle in front of a large cross and carrying a fistful of dog tags. Also take notice of the stealth fighters found in each corner of the cross. A very powerful and striking image that is perfectly accompanied by a real contrast and "pop" provided by the red, white, and black inks. The "pop" is really helped by the fact that this is not printed on back paper, it is actually black ink on white paper, so all the black you see is actually black ink and not the paper color. That little twist provides a very crisp contrast that really helps put this piece over the top.
A+++++ work on this one... i personally own it and plan on getting a nice professional frame job for it very soon...
I showed you mine, now lets see yours

just off the top of my head, first thoughts........
Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow
a message to love, enjoy your life, and live in the moment... even while the world around you may be choatic and poisoned
I saw that in person in Madrid when I was there two years ago. It was cool, but it's a shame because I didn't really have the appreciation for it that I have now, so it wasn't really a big deal at the time.
Seems to me more like people don't really care what's going on around them - they just live for immediate pleasures. But that's just my opinion.
Great thread, btw. That DC poster is amazing.
I agree with your take on this one. Even when the world may seem so grim, you can still have heaven. You can create your own reality instead of letting reality consume you. That's not to say people should not pay attention to the world around them and address these ongoing problems but rather to still live your life full of joy, peace of mind and all the pleasures that can make it so good despite the outside world. Sometimes love is all you have to keep you going.

and sometimes the pursuit of love is all you have to keep you going...
