by smoking a plant. I can be arrested and jailed for possesion of mother nature.

While at the same time our president lie's about justifications for war, resulting in the slaughter of hundreds of thousands. Not to mention continuing to escalate the war. and that is all "legal". He continues to be treated like royalty, indulging in private flights, world travel, $1000 suits, world class security, and 5 star meals. All paid for by us, while he smirks and laughs.

something is very wrong with this picture.

mother nature = illegal
lying to invoke war resulting in a mass slaughter = legal

what the fuck is wrong with us?

consider who decides what is "legal"

While I agree the weed should be legal and the way we went into war was dispicable, it's really apples and oranges, two separate discussions.

same thing apply's to this board... if i start a threat talking about sex and the human body and reproductive system in frank fashion, the thread will be locked and i will get banned

it should be the opposite IMO... sex should be openly talked about and embraced as natural, and war and killing should be "unacceptable" and not tolerated

Why does everyone make a big deal about marijuana being illegal.....its kinda like speeding.....sure its illegal, but its not strictly enforced anyway. As long as you don't get stupid with it and grow an acre of plants nobody bothers you about it. I've been busted with a couple of joints before, and all the cop did was confiscate the evidence, and told me to be more careful.....just like speeding...if you go about 5 to 10 over the limit, you don't get into trouble...its going 15+ over the limit that gets you in trouble.... hence the rule for life is, everything is okay in moderation!

Marijuana was legal and available at corner stores until 1931. That's not too long ago in the grand scheme of things. We are just living in the shadow of two world wars, a cold war, and a retarded president.

Maybe we will see a lot of positive changes once the idiot baby boomer generation cannot vote anymore.

man....think about it. Someone has to grow it. someone has to distribute.

Ok, this can be justified by the risk/reward factor, right? They make a lot of money for their risk....but this is exactly what makes it dangerous. It's an unregulated industry. Someone burns you in business you call a lawyer...someone burns you for drugs, you get a bat...or worse.

If those people weren't risking their freedom, their lives at times for their "jobs", you wouldn't be getting high at all, and you might think it's a bigger deal. It's so hypocritical to smoke weed and judge the people that got it to you because of the legality of it....when it's illegal for you to smoke too!

When people realize the humanity that is stifled due to self-induced loss of consciousness, it's mind-boggling. And by this I mean in the myriad behaviours humans use from substance abuse, workaholism, shopaholism, rageaholism, sex addictions (including to porn/masturbating), eating issues, etc. This self-induced loss of consciousness is what keeps the majority unempowered. Literally.

War and killing is definitely part of nature. Like substance abuse, it's indicative of where we are in our evolution, and of the lacks that we face, including where we could use growth and more adaptive (less maladaptive) mechanisms for making progress, evolutionarily speaking.

It's all part of the same reality. The president is representative of a country. It is the United States as a whole that is in this "bogus" war. There are millions of people who cope with their lives in maladaptive ways, whether it's by substance abuses or by numbing themselves in front of the TV. This creates a nation at a certain level of evolution, wherein voting in this President (twice!) and the ensuing "bogus" war is a natural consequence. While the US may be a good symbol for me to point to, this numbing effect, wherein peoples are rendering themselves unable to problem solve past reaction and further numbing, is at least a western epidemic. It is what it is evolutionarily speaking.

If the United States was predominantly filled with personally empowered people, a presidential candidate more along the lines of Kucinich or Ron Paul would be the obvious choice, rather than such a long shot.

The demonizing of key few people, and absolving the millions of a country as innocent is part of the problem with duality thinking, blame and judgment, which is not the same as understanding, accountability, responsibility and the natural subsequent problem solving.

I gotta agree, your country worships war, and thinks nipples are dangerous. It's one of the more absurd paradoxes out there. It's a religious nut thing !!
BTW, marijuana is bad for brains. While the OP is boasitng about his toking, his brain is slowly rotting and he is wasting his life. Every day I see people who openly regret smoking dope.

No need to apologise. You are very much entitled to "your" reality, and your view.

To me, George Bush is 100% accountable for his each and every choice, including the consequences of his actions that he accepts and the consequences of his actions that he is oblivious to. Just as we are each 100% accountable for our each choice--for both the consequences for our actions that we are aware of and accept, and for the ones we are oblivious to. It's just the way it works.

Natural law. If you walk off a cliff, unaware of it's existence, you fall. It is what it is.

When people stifle who they are, there are widespread ramifications. The psychological root of all maladaptive behaviours is to adapt the best way we know how. It's a band-aid. For example, when we are children, or teens or young adults and have not learned ways to care for ourselves that are healthy. We might use drugs, etc. The underlying issue is that we have our emotional selves inside that we have not learned to adapt. As long as we continue the maladaptive ways, we continue to squash our true inner selves, staying unconscious of who we fully are. Again, the consequences are huge and widespread. Because we do not know how to take care of our emotional selves humanely and decently (because we continue to subdue, dominate, drug and numb our inner selves) we do not know how to
treat others humanely either. We reflect those patterns all around us. Look around on this board for example. And it goes much further than in debates. Husbands and wives disconnect, families break, children are further taught to repress who they are, continuing the patterns. Lives are fragmented rather than whole. It's epidemic.

We create our dramas everyday, and oh yes, we live with it. We can learn to resolve these patterns and go beyond them to our health and our power, or we can demonize the other guy while hiding behind denial. Either way, we'll get the consequences for our choices. I prefer growth and empowerment, if only for the ability to actually understand these dynamics, rather than feel like a victim of life.

Numbing behaviours of all kinds--including religion used as a way to numb who we are inside, as lucy pointed out--are our way of staying unconscious of our life experiences because we do not have the skills to cope with them. The only way to find the skills is to remove the behaviour, and create a vacuum--a necessity for the skills to come to one. We then rise to the occasion and find ways to adapt...it relies purely on our choice. Denial perpetuates the blindness and the imbalanced patterns.

    It depends.

Our negative patterns are indicated by this: Is there an energy about it that is controlling?...in otherwords, are we in command of the behaviours or are the behaviours in command of us? If the behaviour dictates what we do, it shows our unconscious issues have us in their grips. Who we are on the surface does not have self-mastery.

All negatively tinged behaviours represent inner unresolved issues.

It's all part of this lovely aristocracy. Fewer rich folks smoke weed than middle/lower class IMO. So the rich make the crimes they don't as much as others more punishable so they can keep tightening their hold on power. The social gap between aristocrats and the average person has become broader than the Mississippi and deeper than the Grand Canyon. And it's only getting worse.

This is an extremely interesting post. I'm almost excited for us to be all killed off and give life on this planet another chance. Hopefully whatever comes of it will be much more successful than us stupid humans were.
  • why is hemp illegal in america?

The reason that Hemp is illegal in America today is because the main families in America (Masons), the Harrimans and Rockefellers (Standard Oil), the Whitneys (Eli Whitney-Cotton Gin), Dupont (Chemicals in wood pulp processing and cotton pesticides), and Hearst (Newspapers, Media) find it more profitable to sell us unnecessary chemicals, unneeded dug-up petroleum oil, immune system destroying pharmaceuticals, and axed up trees cut into real thin slices, all at over-inflated prices and at the expense of our health and living environment. For these companies, the real problem is that one cannot patent a natural plant. Almost everything produced in America by large corporations is exported for sale on the world markets. The total value of oil, petrochemicals, and pharmaceutical sales totals hundreds of billions of dollars. However, with the availability of over 50,000 new products and the necessity to manufacture them, America would be a much richer nation if the farmers and the average citizen were allowed to grow this valuable crop. -source

The quote is correct, you still can't patent a natural plant ... Monsanto has a patent on geneticaly modified plants ... the scary thing is though, they can sue farmers now, when their fucking shit GM plant pollen INFECTS regular farmers' crops ... bullshit!
