Uh i read the article, and you just slightly (har har) understate the statistics presented, which are in summary that a carbon tax (global or otherwise) would place a massively oppressive tax on the end users of almost all modern energy sources even though a full 90% of the environmental concern addressed is from coal exclusively, which is only about 1\3rd of the tax base ...

And i am an environmentaly conscious person, if you want to know. I think polution and mans impact on the environment have been massively ingnored right in to the new millenium. Fortunately green technology, sustainable design, eco-economy mindedness, and other buzz words are increasingly becoming daily realities in the world of business ... but on the whole mans impact is still far more destructive than it could otherwise be ...

That's not saying that I'm for taxing anything for whatever, but I dont think taxes as a tool for better environment is such a bad idea. Depends on how they do it. Apply to all taxes in general really.

It is the aggregate affect of US Foreign Policy that has fucked most of these countries ... most notably our "Free Trade" organizations have waged wanton destruction on the internal economies of more countries than one could name in a post ...
... it is laughable that people would think that the solution to this type of problem is to give up more of their own wealth to the same government that is fucking those people.
