Congressman Ron Paul has warned millions of radio listeners that the US is heading into a deadly confrontation with Iran, revealing his disbelief at members of Congress who have openly voiced support for a pre-emptive nuclear strike on the country.
"If we do (attack) it is going to be a disaster," the Congressman told the Alex Jones show this Thursday.

"I was astounded to see on one of the networks the other day that the debate was not are we going to attack? but are we going to attack before or after the election?" Paul continued.

The Congressman recently voiced his concern over House Congressional Resolution 362 which he has dubbed a 'Virtual Iran War Resolution'.

"If that comes up it is demanding that the President put on an absolute blockade of the entire country of Iran, and punish any country or any business group around the world if they trade with Iran." Paul told listeners.

Experts have predicted gas will rise to $6 per gallon if the resolution passes, Paul believes that may happen anyway just by anticipation.

"The frightening thing is they say they are taking no options off the table, even nuclear first strike." The Congressman stated.

Paul believes from talking with his contacts in and around Congress that a strike on Iran has already been green lighted.

"That is my sense because the Democratic leadership in the House are proposing no resistance whatsoever, we saw this when a supplemental bill came up and the President asked for $107 billion for the war, the Democrat leadership gave them $162 billion.

It is still totally bewildering to me when I see men and women in the Congress that I know and like doing this just to get along. Most of them will say "I agree with you on all you say but the Iranians are bad people and they might attack us some day... I hear members of Congress saying 'if we could only nuke them'."

Ron Paul also spoke in detail about his new Campaign For Liberty Group and his views on the upcoming election.

If our government nukes Iran, they are committing their own suicide. Neither the American people or the rest of the world would stand for it.

Either Ron Paul is loosing his mind or World War III is about to begin..

in all seriousness, anyone who wants to attack Iran needs to be declared mentally insane and locked away. but the problem is, there's not enough room for all of those psychopaths.

I'd imagine that's quite confidential. He can't tell everything. He's still a member of congress.

We are not going to attack Iran, Israel will attack Iran and the U.S. will join the attack as a 'defender' of Israel's right to exist dog and pony show. Come on people this has always been part III of the Bush, Bush, Baker, Kissinger Plan. Now that we have been secured North Korea as the wild card and been assured they will not help Iran, we have a yellow light just waiting to turn green.

Bush and company will attack Iran (or have Israel do it and then join in when the Iranians counterstrike) before they leave office.

This is then going to create a world wide economic/political crisis when oil goes through the roof and most of the muslim countries revolt.

Just watch...............this administration is stupid and selfish enough to do it.

Ron Paul's a coward for overhearing a comment and not saying who made the comment? These four people who directly changed the very fabric of the governing foundation of America which directly impacted the justification, direction and decision to lead this country into a false war falls into the same category, I DON'T THINK SO. Your viewpoint and my viewpoint of what makes a coward are considerably different.

I hate to say it but if I were American, I'd be quite worried about 'Iran' attacking before November.

Do you mean Iran attacking us? Or the US gov attacking us in the guise of Iran?

I can't really believe things like that without completely losing my mind, so I'll say that I am far more concerned with attacks on Iran by America. Let's just say I will be holding my breath this this Lame-ass duck of a president is back home in Texas come January.

I think the most likely possibility is that Israel conducts air-strikes against Iran, with us providing the weapons like we did during their offensive against Lebanon. Of course in the eyes of the Middle-East that will be seen as aggression on our part (rightly so) as we seem to be joined at the hip with Israel in all matters.

Yeah, but we hear about this sort of thing every election. In 2006 it was either going to be Iran or Osama as an October Surprise. Nothing happened and the Dems took congress. In 2004, same thing - October Surprise with Osama Bin Laden's capture/death. Nothing there either.

If the Republicans had something like this in their arsenal, they would have used it in 2006 and not given up congress.

Um, no one is going to nuke anybody, at least literally. Honestly, they'd just drop a nuclear weapon on Iran tomorrow, even though no such weapon has been used since WW-II (despite MANY threats during the Cold War)? Any educated military strategist views nukes as a deterrent, first and foremost, and as people in this thread have pointed out, no one in the world wants nukes detonating again. How do you guys sleep at night? I am not saying that there won't be a confrontation with Iran, of some sort ... But a unilateral nuclear strike? Come on.

LOL ... and that comment wasn't a dig. I just don't understand how a few wingnuts making off-the-record remarks in Congress translates into WW-III. There are more than a few steps that must intervene first.
