I know-old news. But wow. I just watched it for the first time today in class..unbelievable. Really, I can't even remeber what I was going to write. It's just soo sad to watch something like that and have to face that its really going on. People are so worried about their iPod's not working or not having what they want at the grocery store- not even thinking about bigger problems.

Clinton did say that the biggest regret while in office was not helping Rawanda, I have to agree. I was only 3 when this happend, so for me this whole issue is new information.

My teacher walked into class today and told us about how she met a man from South Africa over the weekend. There was a retirement party for someone in the Navy and she got to talking with him about all of Africa's problems. He is native to Africa and said that at his house there, he had to have a large metal fence with 2 guard dogs, the crime rate was that bad. If he was too have a party as big as this retirement party there he said he would have to have a few car guards to make sure the guests cars wouldn't be stolen. He still can't believe America. Every type of food in one place for such a low price and the fact that he can have his car parked in the street without it getting broken into or stolen. He kept telling my teacher over and over how lucky her and her husband are to live in America.

He also shared with her that he had taken a trip to India. He couldn't believe it-poverty everywhere. A five-star hotel and across the street was children with no where to go.

Anyway, if you havn't seen Hotel Rawanda please go see it. Maybe it will open your eyes. (it did for me)

Awesome Flick, I like Don Cheedle in pretty much any movie he is in.
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire

Yep, it's amazing. I had a thread about it too when I first watched it. It's one of those films everyone SHOULD have to watch and it really opened my eyes and made me feel like I HAVE to do something. Just so shocking and sad and brilliantly made. I'm glad they're showing it in schools.

I've got a copy of it. Great film. I've also got a copy of the film 'Shooting dogs' which is about the same subject and is meant to be really good but I've not seen this one yet.
The book to get if you're interested in the subject of the Rwandan genocide is this...
