Too bad America can't be as enlightened and cultured as those high class Europeans....

To view this board, you'd think America has cornered the market on racism, stupidity, backwardness, intolerance, etc., but when you open your eyes, you see that other places are just as bad.

since when did Montenegro represent all of Europe?

hey, check out the irony of it.. Montenegro has the word negro in it... wow
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

In reality it doesn't represent all of Europe. Just like the actions of a few in America don't represent all Americans.

I'm not opposing that view, just expanding it to show that the same ignorant stuff by a few morons happens everywhere - not JUST in America.

Montenegro is a fairly backward racist country... hardly represents Europe..

just as Alabama isnt a representative of all of America...

Yeah, yeah - the rest of Europe is an enlightened eutopia, I'm sure.

And when has it been said in recent times that America is or isn't more racist than the rest of the world?
You seem to be under the impression that we see Americans as a whole as unenlightened hicks.
Some may be, but like I said, and others have too - it's the same everywhere.

  • Nah, Europeans definitely do stereotype Americans. You think we're all neo-nazi fascist war monger cowboys.

Personally, I think of America as a European nation in many respects. It has far more in common with Europe's political and cultural traditions than the rest of the world. Plus most of us are white.

Well, I suppose Europe isn't mostly white anymore right? Heh heh. But they want that so it's okay. I suppose Europeans would sound racist if they didn't want to allow massive immigration from Africa and the Middle East.

We really dont. It may be how we see your government, but not the people. I'd liek to know what you base that on.

I know for sure these things are painfully common in France and Italy.
I would say actually that political correctness, vilified as it is by many , has done a pretty good job of getting rid of these overt, mainstream forms of racism in the United States.

Of course, I'd still much rather be chronically sick in France and Italy than the US.

Everyone has stereotypes. The Italians and many Europeans I know stereotype the Americans as ignorant and naive, the Americans stereotype the Italians as pizza eaters and lazy mandolin players. Once we recognize the stereotypes for what they are we can move on to try and understand each other.

Yes, there are morons everywhere, in every country. They are cab drivers, businessmen, students, world leaders, and everything in between. I do find it ironic that this kind of nonsense goes on in Europe and not in the U.S. There's definitely a preconception with many Europeans that our country is full of dumbfucks. Maybe it's because of our president. But it's not just eastern Europe. A few years back groups of soccer fans were doing this crap in Spain and Italy. I'm sure you can find the interview with Thierry Henry discussing this.

I can't help but wonder what the deer and squirrels and cats and dogs and spiders and ants in all the planet's countries think of us humans.

Whether we're tan and trim in Spain, or obese cowboys in America, or snobby sonsabitches in France.....

    ....we're human.

Unfortunately, these things happen in soccer matches. However, there's a big outcry every time it happens, with substantial fines incurred on the home team. The UEFA also has large campaigns to circumvent the problem. It is also more and more being dealt with in the supporter clubs of the teams, where such individuals will be turned away.

Europe does have problems with racism too. There is no denying it. And here it sometimes happen in sports games. But we are also moving in the right direction I think. As gabers said, there are morons everywhere.

And for the record, I do not condone either the demonization of americans in general, nor the "they are all crazy communists" view of europeans. Both terms are too general to be truly meaningful.

    Peace

Why is that even important? Seriously, why is it important that most of you are white? Do you have to be white to be part of a certain culture? To understand certain traditions?
Well, I suppose Europe isn't mostly white anymore right? Heh heh. But they want that so it's okay. I suppose Europeans would sound racist if they didn't want to allow massive immigration from Africa and the Middle East.
