'With less than 1% of the European Union's population and just over 1% of its economy, Ireland has 100% control over the bloc's ambition to become a United States of Europe.

Ireland this week becomes the only one of the EU's 27 member nations to put its new governing treaty to a referendum.'

    KILL THE DREAM!

I fully support you! Maybe fuckers will pay attention to what the EU is doing exactly. People don't know a thing about the EU here. The only reason I know something about it is because I have two law courses at school. Our professor said perhaps only 5% of our country is informed about the EU, NATO, UN etc. He told us if we didn't believe him we should do the test and ask some very basic questions to the people we know. I did, and I didn't just ask slack jawed yokels either but intelligent people too... the overwhemling majority had no idea and no answers.
    THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

I think that is why many people are voting no... the fact that the ins and outs of the treaty can be debated for months with neither side being completely wrong... shows how it could be interpretated to suit certain governments :o and still nobody is clear on it. We have big multimillionnaire businessmen (Ben Dunne being the latest) coming out and saying 'I'm not a man of low intelligence but I would need months to make sense of a document like that'

I agree that it DOES make our government stronger... and it makes Europe stronger... BUT that strength is taken from the people! This is basically the same document that France and Holland opposed a couple of years ago in referendums and now their government have given it a different name and just put it through... so no, I DON'T think Ireland's gonna be kicked out of Europe... I think many europeans will thank us for it.
