I have a signed copy of this book... I think the author even wrote a personal message to my dad in it.

I've yet to read it, but maybe I'll get it off the shelf now. :)

    :) that's really cool.

I have to say, it got too much into history/names/dates for my liking rather than the story between the two people... but I thought some of you might like that :p . It goes through 60 years of the conflict and shows from both sides perspective. It's quite thought provoking really.

Actually, an older and probably better known book on this subject is one I've mentioned before: Arab and Jew- Wounded Spirits In A Promised Land. It was originally published in the late 80's, and has since been revised. It covers both sides VERY well. I think he even won a Pulitzer for it.

    http://www.amazon.com/Arab-Jew-Wounded-Spirits-Promised/dp/0142002291/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1212170119&sr=1-1

Publisher's Weekly said this about it:

"The Jew, in the Arab stereotype, is a brutal, violent coward; the Arab, to the prejudiced Jew, is a primitive creature of animal vengeance and cruel desires. There is remarkable symmetry in these images, as Shipler points out in this hefty mixture of reportage, personal histories, interviews and scholarship. An act of courage and clarity, the book is an important contribution to the literature on the Middle East. The New York Times correspondent shows how Israeli Jews deny the reality that Palestinian Arabs are victims of forcible displacement and expulsion from what was once their homeland; he describes how a "synthetic Israeli history'' is taught to Jewish schoolchildren, while Palestinian boys and girls in the refugee camps are taught militant rhetoric and hatred. Shipler explores the corrosive effects of terrorism by both sides, the zeal of Islamic fundamentalists, as well as that of Israeli ultraconservatives."
"Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States, Barack Obama."

"Obama's main opponent in this election on November 4th (was) not John McCain, it (was) ignorance."~Michael Moore

"i'm feeling kinda righteous right now. with my badass motherfuckin' ukulele!"

Thanks for that. It might be more interesting to those who don't want the novel side of things. The one I suggested is a novel but it's still a true story and very very well researched. Definitely education has a lot to do with it.
