Facebook Funded by the CIA?

I'm sure many of you have read about this/heard news about this a few months ago, but I only saw this on a website randomly yesterday.

Basically as I understand it 14.7million dollars was wired to the company who created facebook in its beginnning by a company whose head had strong connections with the CIA. The 14.7million dollars didnt seem to have any particular reason behind it, other than to help set up facebook.

Anyways its been argued the CIA helped fund facebook in its creation in order to be able to keep track of all users and any suspicious activity etc.

Breach of privacy or silly conspiracy theorist ideas?

  • I heard that the del.icio.us site is also. Ragardless the US gov't has automated processes that combs through myspace, facebook, etc.. etc... and profiles everyone and everything.

The whole internet is being profiled and monitored routinely. Same with your phone calls. It's not random, and it's not like some guy has to tap into your line. It's all computer automated so that when you say certain things hooks get triggered and someone is automatically patched into your conversation to listen to what you're saying. It's all very sophisticated.

Everything is being spied on and monitored. Best of all we're all paying through the nose for it to happen automatically 24/7. So count on it.

mmm big govt...don't you just f-ing love it?
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Especially since they've openly admitted to it. There's really no conjecture or conspiracy theory involved.

That would be the one. Voice (email, fax) recognition software thing that monitors everyones voice and words on all their phone calls. Everything is being tapped and archived.

I suppose they think if it's not a human listening it's "ok" Heck they are recording and archiving essentially all internet traffic.

....what a ridiculous waste of money. Who is more paranoid? The gov't hands down.

    yah
im not 100% sure if i believe the facebook thing. no doubt they might use facebook, but im not sure they would have funded its creation.

i think echelon is very real though, and it would shock us all to know the extent of it.

Theres a LOT of strange things that happen in our world.

Would you believe that the CIA was responsible for funding the WOMENS LIBERATION MOVEMENT (Ms. Magazine) from its inception? Yep, along with high-level elitists like the Rockefellers, they sure did.

    True shit.
    ;)

[edit: oh, you want to know WHY they would do that? Uh. Cause, once you let them vote, you get to TAX them]
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?
