LAHORE, Pakistan - About 1,000 Muslim clerics and religious scholars meeting Thursday in eastern Pakistan demanded the removal of Pope Benedict XVI for making what they called "insulting remarks" against Islam.


Benedict "should be removed from his position immediately for encouraging war and fanning hostility between various faiths" and "making insulting remarks" against Islam, said a joint statement issued by the clerics and scholars at the end of their one-day convention.

The "pope, and all infidels, should know that no Muslim, under any circumstances, can tolerate an insult to the Prophet (Muhammad). ... If the West does not change its stance regarding Islam, it will face severe consequences," it said.

And another thing ... I am really tired of these threats ... "The West will pay", blah blah blah ... The Pope speaks for everyone in the West, now? And if we're so damn bad, quit fucking coming here, you stupid shits! What kind of martyr complex must one have to be willing live with the infidels? And I am not talking about Muslims who immigrate because they really do want a better life. I am talking about a very specific group, the ones that come here but then freak out at people like Reid in Britain ... The ones that come here but continue to preach hate and violence, religious intolerance. We are PLURALISTIC ... The West lets all these different people come here to live and work, and we let people retain their religions, their culture ... We have our own culture, you know! But we are willing to let other people retain theirs, a very one-sided (do you think I could retain my culture in Pakistan?) but modern and progressive stance to take. Sorry, but who are these people to criticize?! Based on one man's comments?!
