  • There are no problems with your voting machines.

Canada does elections soooo much more easier!!!! I think you guys should look into it.
This sidewalk is for regular walking, not for fancy walking!
  • I wonder if there will be any voter fraud if the Democrats take control of both houses?

Smart thread. And the ones similar to this. Prepare excuses for losing early. Gonna need one. Gets a zero for originality, but a thumbs up for preparation.

  • i will say right now five days before the election that i predict the worst case of vote fraud and disenfranchisement in the history of our country. we will hear about irregularities and votes not being counted or votes being changed for weeks. this is based on RFK's articles in rolling stone and hearing snippets from other sources, but i get the feeling that there is so much at stake that some ballot tampering is inevitable.

how can the beacon of democracy screw up our own elections? we are in some serious trouble if we can't run an honest election and have winners declared by the courts.

I just happened to watch a bit of a documentary called "Hacking Democracy" that explores the vulnerability of the electronic voting machines. The president of Diebold (the company that develops the code) wrote a letter promising to deliver the electoral votes of Ohio to Pres. Bush back in '04. They also pointed out that it wasn't just Republicans pushing for the implementation of these voting machines though. Diebold has received money from both the Republican party and the Democratic party. Apparently the corruption crosses party lines from state to state.

You do realize that there are many of use who are worried about ANY political asshole using this to their advantage, regardless of party title?

I realize its what you SAY, I doubt its what you think.

I strongly doubt that you will honestly claim any kind of monkey business if by some strange phenomenon the Republicans lose.

  • We played with the idea of introducing e-voting a couple of years back, spent 50 million on it, used it once in a few constituencies and scrapped it cos hackers said it's too easy to hack into.

Voting wise... I would not trust computers... stick to the ballot sheets.
    The Astoria??? Orgazmic!
    Verona??? it's all surmountable
Dublin 23.08.06 "The beauty of Ireland, right there!"
    Wembley? We all believe!
Copenhagen?? your light made us stars
    Chicago 07? And love
    What a different life
Had I not found this love with you

I agree. If microsoft can't keep its systems from being hacked, who can?

Oh definitely... NOTHING is hacker proof... even if it IS, surely it can still be hacked by those who create the system??? And if ANYBODY is capable of tampering, it cannot be trusted. This doesn't matter whether it's tampered to suit democrats or republicans... if it's tampered, it's not a democracy and anybody could be in power. Yes I'm sure ballot papers can be tampered but only by a tiny degree by in individual doing the counting... and yet they're all rechecked anyway.

Oh yea dude, you're right. Because the fucking democrats are so much better than the republicans. Same suits, same fake smiles, same fake shit. If you want to win an election, do it the honest way.
  • Ok I'll admit that electronic voting causes problem's, but it so much damn faster then using piece's of paper.Imagine how long that would take to count and organize. At least here in the US we can announce the winners the following day most of the time huh.
    I’d thank my lucky stars,
    to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
