I've always had the upmost respect for the Heritage Foundation, and was wondering if there are any research institutions like it, that go in depth on policy issues and are accurate, as they do their homework, that are for liberals? All I know of is the Center for Budget & Policy Priorities.

I think the Brookings Institution ( http://www.brook.edu/ ) is an interesting organization. Lots of well researched issue papers and opinion pieces. Mostly left leaning.

I like the Cato Institute, but it isn't liberal. It is libertarian. So sometimes you'll find pieces that dems would love and other times papers republicans can embrace. Check them out at http://www.cato.org
