I just got an email from MINI USA that they are putting out 500 electric cars in the US for testing. Actually only 500 in CA,NY and NJ. You can't sign up for it until Nov but I figured I would sign up for it and see what happens, maybe I can get one. Heres a link to the site about the car. I am pretty excited about this, I live the MINI an have been wanting to get one for a long time. If this goes into production I may have to get one. Imagine never paying for gas again(only $4000 batteries haha).

yeah the oil companies buy all the patents on any new battery designs and hide them away...at least they're using this one.
  • Watch the movie "Who killed the electric car?" It details the original launch of the electric car and how they were killed by many factors.

Imagine if everyone had an electric car. Then there would be no oil changes. There would be much, much, much less auto maintenance/repairs. So about a billion people would be put out of work.

a perfect example of how this society doesn't always do what's best for the majority, as profit is guiding these very important decisions.

its the same in any industry, but most apparent in the energy industry. MIT put out a report detailing the importance of geothermal energy. We could power this entire country from it...the problem of course is that its very difficult to make a profit from geothermal energy, as it is very abundant and very cheaply harvested.
