Sharia Law really? What is going on over there with your courts? I don't understand, how can a country expect this to not get out of hand and start to spread into other issues? You guys just opened up a giant can of worms.
Can someone from your side of the pond explain this to me please. I know that you didn't have a personal say in it but I am curious as to what the reactions are.

I have faced it, A life wasted...
Take my hand, my child of love
Come step inside my tears
Swim the magic ocean,
I've been crying all these years0 -

She may very well be, I don't know anything about her. But does it change the fact that it is happening, at least according to other articles I have read.

fucking pathetic.
Okay so what you are saying is that is isn't happening? My whole point to this is how can England effectively govern when they have different rules for different people or different communites. I know that the Jewish community has the Beth Din in London and they handle certain civil disputes under English Law. How can this be allowed to happen?

sharia law would be used as an arbitration between two disputing Muslims and both agree previously to settle it in a sharia law court not a British one, i don't see a problem with that.0

agreed.
Scottish law is very different from English & Welsh law also.
*watches as many americans get totally confused by above sentence*oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.0 -
The Jewish community has used their own forms of arbitration in the UK for years. Stop reading bollocksDOWNLOAD THE LATEST ISSUE OF The Last Reel: http://www.mediafire.com/?jdsqazrjzdt

I think this article pretty much covers it. As others have said it's a form of arbitration. Civil matters can go to arbitration instead of court already ... this is just another form of arbitration that the parties can AGREE to use ... and the arbitration panel has to include a qualified lawyer.
I don't see the problem. The laws of this country will always be above Sharia law.So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?0 -

I know, and I stated that. I was just curious as to how the gov operates when they have different laws or procedures for different communites. That was the main point of all this. I just think that it can really get out of hand and that it can lead to bigger problems. Groups wanting more power etc..Thats a lovely accent you have. New Jersey?

these things are not part of the legal system. These aer just forms of recociliation/arbitration. Much like how unions and companies sometimes go to independent third parties to help sort out disputes.DOWNLOAD THE LATEST ISSUE OF The Last Reel: http://www.mediafire.com/?jdsqazrjzdt

Why not? It sounds reasonable. I don't see a problem with it. If you're afraid of people wanting more power then everything is a potential problem, isn't it?
Dunk, what the fuck are you talking about? You live in England! Stop confusing us!THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

Thanks..that is what I figured. When I started this thread I was looking for some insight from people who actually live there and can me tell what everything I was reading really meant. I don't know the first thing about the English judicial system so it doesn't make any sense to me. Hell I don't understand my own at times either.Thats a lovely accent you have. New Jersey?

Wrong. It is a problem. The concept and action of "Honor Killing " was not created by ant-Islamics. It was created by...Islam and it's Muslim followers.
But the Brits have been taking steps..........
