Republican Congressman Boehner has insulted the skills and intelligence of our military. He needs to apologize as John Kerry did. What a disgrace from the Republican leader. All Republican candidates should denounce what he said.

From Howard Dean, DCCC Chairman Emanuel, and Senator Reid :

Quoth Reid: " It’s political leaders like Congressman Boehner and Donald Rumsfeld, who have failed. I expect President Bush and Congressional Republicans, who demanded John Kerry apologize, hold their own party’s majority leader to a much higher standard. There’s"

Quoth Emanuel: "President Bush used to say that he would listen to the generals. Today, he says he’s happy to listen to Secretary Rumsfeld while his lieutenant in Congress, John Boehner blames the generals on the ground for the chaos in Iraq."

Quoth Dean: "After the Bush Administration’s numerous failures in Iraq, to blame our brave troops is just wrong. John Boehner should apologize immediately."

    Apologize like Kerry did.

What he said was that it was not Donald Rumsfeld's fault for poor progress in the Iraqi "war". He stated the responsibility and blame is on the Generals. It's a shame Kerry said what he said, and it's a shame Dean was simply looking for retaliation and stated he should apologize to the troops. NO! He should have demanded he apologize to the GENERALS. It WAS a backstabbing remark towards, not the troops, but the LEADERSHIP on the ground. So Democrats continue to fall into Republican-designed political mudfights while people in power are free to displace appropriate blame from those responsible to those they enlisted to do their dirty work.

    Dance, puppets ...

But seriously, though. Everyone, both sides, are getting caught up in the mire of negative political campaigning.

Every failed military effort since 1967 has been directly the fault of politicians not troops, not generals.

Do you want to fight a war, or be politically correct because the two are pretty much mutually exclusive.

listen, kerry said something that could obviously be taken out of context...he should have apologized for his remarks being taken the way they were and explained how he meant them. but, this, here, is grasping for straws. i hate the "republicans" in office right now, but i also hate this back and forth bullshit that doesn't solve anything!

You know what...I'm sure the troops are to blame for some things there. They don't get a pass simply because they are serving...they should serve properly...

This is not specifically regarding the situation you mentioned, but just in general.

Anyhow, this whoel 'apologize' crap going on now is absurd.

Kerry and Bohener both stuck their feet in thier mouths. One GOP, one DEM. How about everyone in America agree that they cancel each other out and move on.

Even if you want to be pissed off about it...it should only be a reflection on the specific individual that made the comment...not the whole party or any other candidate simply because they share the same letter by their name. It's just dumb. It's not like it's the mantra or policy of the party.

I know, but the reality is that the GOP fell all over itself to "cash in" on Kerry (i.e. to have it reflect on the other DEMS) and now it appears that Dean is doing the same.
