Hillary vs. Obama on Health Care Question (help, peeps!:))

Hey,

Can someone very simply explain this to me, please? I was planning on voting for Obama (and excited about it - although I'll vote for whatever Dem wins the nomination), but caught a bit of the repeat of tonight's debate on TV. And Hillary was talking about how EVERYONE would be insured, but Barack only wanted to insure everyone... who wants to be?

I really, really don't understand. So could someone lay it out (w/o partisan whatevers, thank you) kind of simply for me, maybe?

Please?

Thank you, Message Pit. I love you .

  • Hillary wants to force people to get health care... therefore she can say "everyone" will be covered, sure cause they have to be

    Obama does not...

    I think. :)

One thing that I dont think will work is Hillary wants to pay for her plan partially with the money saved by going to all digital medical records. Seems like a gamble to me, getting technology to work like that, well, takes years and years of testing. How does she plan to pay for the plan while we are trying to get doctors to work with digital records and not piss off all the privacy advocates at the same time?

But that's about all I really know about the plans, at least how they differ.

  • That's cool, thank you.

I don't think the digital records thing would be a problem though? That's an entirely uninformed opinion, based completely on intuition. I mean, computers are SO prevelant these days, and technology SO easily accesible. Barack was talking about how they'd have to get the techno to small towns that maybe don't have it... but so what?

I'd rather take the hit in my taxes for a couple years, and then have it level off once the new system is in place.

Hillary impressed me, at least in the part of the debate I saw tonight. This is the first time this election that she's done that, so it hit me pretty hard.
  • Have you worked with IT/IS or even basic desktop support? We are talking about people's private medical records. You cant just "e-mail" that around to the next doctor's e-mail account. I can go into the details but they will probably bore you. It is a task that should and will be done. I just don’t think one should count on the hypothetical money that may or may not be saved, IF it ever runs properly.

  • I am by no means a IT/IS expert, but just my limited experiences of my company trying to get different networks/software to communicate with even the most basic info, makes me think that this will be a nightmare project that won't ever really get done.

I almost think that the easy part will be connecting new offices or small office that aren't computerized. Trying to get all of the existing infrastructure to work together makes me cringe.
