Fred Phelps and Virginia Tech...what a repulsive person

This was in the student newspaper here http://www.cavalierdaily.com/CVArticle.asp?ID=30268&pid=1585 and I couldn't believe it...ok, unfortunately with Fred Phelps I can believe it. I cannot say how strongly I and most everyone else, except for his family, disagree with him and are completely horrified by what he says. The facebook group mentioned in the article is apparently posting when the protests are so counter protests can take place.

meh, Fred Phelps is gay and he's self loathing. He needs the attention. Don't give it to him.

If the guy didn't get press they wouldn't do it. They are absolute lunatics it's really not worth any attention.

while I agree, I think this is a great opportunity for everyone to show the support for the families...maybe someone could hit the man with a brick too????

i was just thinking if anyone feels like copycatting cho, this would be the perfect time to do it. that church is about 30 members... i wouldn't shed one tear if the same fate that brought them there befell them.

he'll sue. He makes his living off suing people who hit him. The best thing to do is just to ignore him and try to support the families while ignoring Phelps lunacy.

this guy doesn't make sense to me, but i don't thinkhe makes sense to most people.

now if GOD were to personally "Smite" them in the same way....now that would be effective.

I just don't want anyone to suffer any further personal damage at the hands of that group of supreme assholes.

I'm agnostic. Maybe all I need is a sign from above. If god were to smite the entire congregation today it would certainly help convince me.

Thanks. I read the original post but I didn't know if anybody who was killed was gay. Seems like a strange thing to do. Even if somebody was to have been gay.

this guy has been doing this schtick for years. he stirred quite a bit of controversy back in the day for protesting outside military funerals for those killed in iraq. said they deserved it for fighting for a country that is tolerant of homosexuality.

Is this guy Phelps insane? why would he do this? why does he do this at the funerals of our troops?
This situation could get ugly and possibly result in more bloodshed. I hope it dosen't.

He must be insane; i mean when jerry falwell calls you a first class nut there must be something wrong. The man is absolutely wrong. I think the only people who really agree with him are the members of his "church" (i use that term very loosely...maybe cult would be better).
