with her constant hawkish on stance on the war and bolting for the center on other issues lately, do you still think she's still so great? i used to adore her, but lately i have been turned off by this. i can't tell if she honestly believes in this war, is playing presidential politics already, or is just too proud to admit she made a mistake. anyway, what do you think?

p.s. seriously, no stupid "hillary is a socialist feminista" comments please.

I hope to God the dems can come up with a better candidate. She's a centrist to the T and such an opportunist. If she's all the dems can come up with then I'm fearful that we'll have another fucking republican in there. I think there are way too many rednecks and old people voting to elect a woman president. Old people often think women should be home cooking or something and rednecks....well, I'm not even gonna start with rednecks but they're generally quite sexist. If we could get more young folks out to vote it would be a different story but the fact is the young ones don't take the opportunity to represent themselves in the voting booth.

one thing I see from Hilary is strength. I don't see her showing weakness. you may not like her, but she is stronger than most other Democratic hopefuls, though that doesn't mean she is necessarily a stronger Presidential condidate.

I think the Dem's have to nominate someone that the far left will live with and still come out and vote for, while ensuring that person is strong with the middle (liberal and conservatives alike).

OK, I'm not a dem (libertarian) and I've never liked Hillary (recovering republican) but I'd say she's just heading to center in anticipation of the Big Run, they all do, just look at 1999 GWB!

That said, I'm sure anyone who's 'always liked' Hillary won't be voting for a republican in 08, and if she can convince Barak Obama to run with her, she'll drag me out of my pledge of not voting for a major party again...

Somehow I missed this, I actually think 08 will be our first real shot to elect a woman and/or African-American. I think it will be Hillary/Obama vs Condi/Jeb, so with a woman and African-American on both sides the, eh, less than cultured won't have a choice :)

i am not a fan of her. she was pro-war and i can never get past that to vote for her. she is basically GOP-lite, which is a terrible candidate for the dems. the only way hillary could win is if she was with kerry or obama. alot of women hate her, even the dems.

hell. gore might win in '08 if he would run. he won the popular vote in '00 and has gotten a large amount of support from his recent book/movie. people are actually listening to him again.

This is the interesting predicament she finds herself in. The dems consider her GOP-lite, and many republicans consider her "ultra-liberal". So I'm wondering where her base of support will come from and why her name keeps getting floated as the front-runner.

b/c scarey labels help demonize ppl. the dems as a whole are a complete joke, so are most of the conservatives in office for that matter...but it helps ppl choose sides and seperate from each other in a big game of distraction and nonissues....in a nutshell

be that as it may, but i will vote for her over the best GOP candidate. jesus christ himself could run on the gop ticket and i would not vote for him.

I agree completely. I vote Libertarian, so I watch the major party campaigns much the way I watch spectator sports - with a cold beer and a bag of peanuts.

Hillary Clinton will NEVER be the president of the United States. She's just as polarizing as GWB and - I do not believe (even as a Democrat) - that she is electable.

It's time to start looking at the Mark Warners of the U.S. John Edwards would have been perfect had he not dropped out of the public spotlight.

Kerry is not our man either.

I think Gore is going to run. I really do. He has almost entirely rebuilt his image (not so stiff, etc.) and if he embraces his connection to President Bill Clinton, I think he could make a run.

Al Gore is the Eddie Vedder of party politics ... honest, goofy, does his homework, and even invented the internet (all joking aside he did win an award from a company/group recognizing his contribution to its proliferation). He won in 2000, and he could win again in 2008...think about how much better our country would have been these last 8 years with him as prez...it hurts. But sometimes we need a fuckup to learn our lesson, too bad it took 6 years for the reps. and middle grounders to realize their mistakes.

i would vote for gore again. i would like to see feingold, obama, dean or even kuscinich as a running mate.

i actually voted for dean in the primary, before he went all crazy with the screaming and burned out of the race.

Feingold is a favorite of mine - I like him because he is a bit of a maverick and has never voted along party lines.

However, I think too may people see him as a "whacky liberal" instead of the independnet he really is...
