From the article: "it’s up to Democratic Sen. Barack Obama to convince voters to go with him. If he’s not successful, the country will likely vote for “a comfortable old shoe”, that being Republican Sen. John McCain."

In other words, if Obama doesn't convince people to vote for him, they might vote for McCain instead. Wow. That's profound. Thank you Captain Obvious.

Your interpretation isn't exactly what they're saying. They're saying that McCain is going to be the default vote for most people (hence the "comfortable old shoe") unless Obama can convince them otherwise.

And now that people are experiencing a pretty intense and drastic change, maybe they're finding more change isn't really what they're comfortable with right now.

Two weeks ago McCain was a shoe-in, last week when things went into the shitter, Obama was going to waltz in based on the shitty Republican-led economic meltdown. This week, McCain may be the comfort food people need after all of the bad news. 3 weeks from now? Who knows. I'm sure the predictions will swing back and forth a dozen or more times before the elections.

I have no idea how it is going to turn out at this point, but I don't believe "landslide" will be part of the reality no matter who wins.

I do not believe the election will be close, regardless of who wins.
  • Well that's odd considering CNN listed 5 different independent polls on headline news today and all of them had Obama leading including the poll done by Fox News.

  • so its just his opinion then? who cares. i've heard nothing but its gonna be close from everyone else.

    I'll be point-blank....

...does that poll allow for people to be racist? I know that sounds like an a-hole comment. But, let's be honest for a second. We are discussing an election and the expectation of results. That said, you got to admit there's a bunch of people (WRONGLY!!!) who will vote one way just because of a persons color. In this case, it's Obama, obviously. And I also want to add, that I'm betting there's a large amount of Dems who will do that... not just a-hole Republicans.

are you limiting the racist comment to white assholes that won't vote for obama because of the shade of his skin? or are you including african americans that will vote for obama because of the shade of his skin?

sorry if i'm asking for you to spell it out for me. i'm not trying to pick a fight or anything, i'm just on very little sleep over the last few days.

WHAT! I won't vote for Obama any more than I'll vote for McCain. Why does people think that if you're black you automatically are going to vote for BO.

Irritates me to no fucking end, I don't trust ANY of these politicians. I prefer someone more like Ralph Nader.

I like what he said today on Democracy Now today on the bailout....Listen/Watch/Read

    Need for a Bailout?" *

As the Bush administration intensifies its pressure for Congress to quickly
approve a $700 billion bailout of the financial industry, we get reaction from
Independent presidential candidate and consumer advocate Ralph Nader. Nader
calls Democratic claims of White House concessions "wish fulfillment" and says
the bailout might not be needed in the first place.
