  • I think Biden is right...and I think Obama and Biden both missed a great opportunity to take the high road.

There's plenty of underhanded, other idiots out there (MoveOn.org anyone?) that can create and pay for ridiculous negative ads.

Personally, I like "negative ads" so long as they stick to issues. When they get stupid and personal, it's beyond ridiculous. And both sides are there now...that's Change we can all believe in. ;)

there's a reason why they put out these ads - they WORK!

it's been proven ... call it more a reflection of the voting public ...

edit: and just in case anyone thinks my comment is a slag on americans - same holds true in most countries canada included

He may be right about the topic, but he's wrong to attack his own team. That's stupid.

And yet his poll numbers don't decrease despite these gaffes.

It's absolute poetic justice...Biden is 'the guy I'd like to have a beer with' this election cycle. He connects with working-class voters despite saying things that make you smack your head. After 2000 and 2004, where I was flabbergasted that America would elect someone cause they felt like they could have a beer with him, it's a bit satisfying to have the tables turned in that regard.

True, that's because no one really cares in the end about the VP.

But I'm interested to see how his comments here play out in coal producing states like PA, OH, IN and VA

You think most would rather have a beer with him or Palin? Ha. I think you are mistaken. The beer person is on the other side.

Although I would admit I'd like to shoot hoops with Obama.

It seems like the media and conservatives are trying very hard to turn every gaffe Biden has into an issue. Other than his line about taxes, has it even worked once?

I had dinner with the guy up in Egartown Martha's Vineyard over the summer. He was shooting the breeze talking shit just like everybody else in there. I don't if many people there knew who he was.

    Joe Biden: The Teflon VP.

As I said, it's nice to see the opposing side getting frustrated ..."but...but...but this guy's an idiot! He keeps saying ridiculous things? Why don't people care?" I've been saying that for eight years, and when I'm feeling like an asshole, it's nice to gloat about that a bit. "Ah, now you see how it is."

But when Biden's 'gaffes' start hurting Obama in the polls, maybe this would be something to talk about. But Obama's polls are going up now. I'm not seeing his campaign falter due to Biden, no matter how hard conservatives may be trying.

I agree. It is funny hearing the right play Biden's soundbites without much success. But then again, I'm not voting for either of the major parties at the end of the day so it doesn't matter too much to me.

I'm annoyed that I won't get to see the debate next week live between Palin and Biden because I think it will be good tv, but I'll be abroad visiting my family in the Philippines.

    Biden is a moron?

    36 years as a Senator
Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee at one point
Current Chairman of the Fpreign Relations committee
he sponsored both the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act and Violence Against Women Act.
He is VP nominee for the Democratic party

meanwhile you're pumping up the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska

    hahahaha, what a joke

Drudge Report is a great example of what I'm talking about. Paulson's appearing before Congress, candidates are preparing for debates, a school shooting in Finland, and Drudge has got 7 or 8 quotes up by Biden, hoping one of them will finally stick.

    .

Unless someone TRULY fucks up, the poll numbers aren't moving until after Friday's debate ....

As is ... the presidential issues are kind of 2nd fiddle to the economic issues. OBama and McCain ... no one really gives a shit about them right now with their retirement on the line ....

Remember, we HAVE a president right now ... not a good one, but, he is our president.

I think we're in complete agreement here. My whole point was that despite conservatives' strongest intentions, Biden's gaffes aren't doing any damage to Obama.

IMHO, Obama is being supported by the financial downturn. So, I don't think Biden's gaffe's can do much damage (right now). If things recover in the next week or two, I'd be willing to bet McCain jumps right back ahead and Biden's gaffes will become more and more annoying to Obama. If things remain in the doldrums, Obama will coast.

Ironically, the state of the economy has little or nothing to do with these two. But, the election will most likely be decided on it.

most of your post I agree with, this, not so much ....

I think people are looking for a leader to guide us out of this ... luckily, both McCain and Obama are better than the leadership (or lack there of) we are getting now.
