Ah yes, liberals showing their true colors. They are not tolerant. They do not respect opposing viewpoints or those that hold those viewpoints. You are all immature and hypocritical. Take care.

Edit: Please don't quote Masters of War or the Here's to the Land song. It just makes you look silly. At least you aren't on VH1 doing it though. I didn't like Falwell, but I am also not cheering his death. Please keep preaching your "peace" and "tolerance" agenda, while cheering the deaths of those who don't agree with you. This is what you have become.

Sorry dude, I may be liberal but I'm certainly not Ghandi. No one said Liberalism is perfect and in my book, the second someone publicly announces that September 11th was the result of Homosexualality, femenists and Abortion Clinics, they go on my shit list. And no I don't care if he publically appoligized for it. Public appologies are just a reactionary measure, when the heat gets too high, they have to do something to temper the response of the masses. In my opinion, he didn't actually feel any remorse for his comments. He also said the following:

In 1999, he told an evangelical conference that the Antichrist was a male Jew who was probably already alive. Falwell later apologized for the remark but not for holding the belief

That comment is so ridiculous you'd think it came from the Borat movies out takes, but no it's really how he felt.

So yes, I repect those that have different views then me, but I do not respect hate mongers that spew venom with their every breath. Jerry Fallwell good riddance.

"Jerry Falwell got his start as a racist demagogue who got up and talked about how desegregation was going to destroy the white race. That’s how he made his money, that’s how he built his church. And he went back in a kind of Stalin-esque purge and destroyed copies of almost every sermon he preached over a 10-year period, because it was so virulent and raw. He still preaches, in my mind, bigotry and racism. It’s just that he’s turned it on others, like homosexuals or liberals or feminists or immigrants, or whatever. But this man, he has the profile of a classic demagogue." - Chris Hedges

A lot of people on this board do preach for peace and tolerance....so when a Falwell departs the world after having devoted his life to building a Christian Nation and to shattering the framework that allows for a tolerant and open society, it is kinda hard to mourn for your loss. Falwell - along with the other evangelical leaders of his type - envision/ed a strictly religious America. Unfortunately, they hatefully damage everything they touch.....and make billions of dollars off of dispair.

Karma? The man was in his 70s. Old age had more to do with it than karma. I really disagreed with his politics and the way he made christians look to the rest of the world disgusted me but, I don't wish death on anybody. I hope he's in peace where ever he is.

The people posting on here I would hope they would conduct themselves better. There is a difference between calling AIDS the Lord's wrath and cheering someone's death. If you ever cheer someone's death than you are in the fringe, and probably have issues to work out. Now, if the guy murdered your family, then you can cheer.

Hmmm, after reading the thread up to this point, I don't see many "cheering" his death. Just not being sad. bootlegger, it's one thing to hold a belief, it's another when you force it on others and act against them as a result of ONE's particular belief.

I won't miss him, I won't cheer his death, but I'll be damned if I'm going to say it's a sad day. And no, I'm not a liberal. I can just have an opinion separate of the extreme of either end.

I think you make a great fricking point about the difference between acknowledging the justifiable death and suffering of hundreds of thousands of humans vs. shamefully acknowledging the death of one the men that taught us about those welcomed deaths of countless number of humans. Falwell told the world the simple truth.....that gays deserve AIDS and that getting AIDS is God punishing them for sinning (because being gay of course a sin).... its really just the communication of fact and is actually a warm and loving exchange of ideas. He should be honored by all as he was a catalyst for peace and acceptance of everyone. But....no....these "emotional" liberals insist on not expressing their sadness for all of our loss.
