What a dispicable human being. There's plenty there to disgust just about anyone, but this one.......completely embodies the stupidity, arrogance and absurdity of this administration:

" The White House apologised for what it called "sloppy work" and said an official had simply lifted the characterisation from the internet without reading it. "

They got the information from the internet and didn't read it?

I'm sorry, but I have an overwhelming need to see George W. Bush's ass kicked and that smug, shit-eating grin wiped off his face. What a total disgrace.

His continuous butchering of the English language has certainly made me laugh more than once. He'd have to be a better comic than president.

Surely people who group all Americans together should realize they're as dumb as they think we are. If those people would stop for 2 seconds and look at Bush's approval rating they'd see what we actually think of him.

y'all "voted" for this guy twice ... that says something too ... although, I don't think dumb is the word ... ignorant, manipulated and brainwashed is more appropriate i think ... :)

As I'm sure all Canadians are well-informed, independent, free-thinkers right? ;) Besides Mr. Harper is pretty friendly with Bush is he not?

In all seriousness, we only re-elected him as I'm sure you must be aware. The first round Gore won the popular vote, and Floridas vote was almost certainly fixed to some extent. Once he was entrenched in office he just had to unleash the hounds on Kerry (who was a weak candidate) to send people flocking in his direction. The day we re-elected him though was probably the darkest day of my life as I felt we collectively confirmed our approval of what he had done.

i don't like harper nor his policies but he is no idiot like bush ... and yes, i put "voted" in quotations for a reason ... :)

thing is - if you objectively look at the general populus - i'm not far off ... people still think iraq was involved in 9/11 ... that's ignorance combined with manipulation ...

You mean Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11? :) (sarcasm)

I definitely can't argue with that one. Everytime I hear someone use that as rationale for the war, I can no longer respect their opinion. It truly saddens me that people are so misinformed here, but I suspect the same is true about people in other countries as well. They just don't happen to have any misguided wars going at the moment so their ignorance is beneath the surface so to speak.

sure ... we're all ignorant of many things ... but when you combine that with a corporatocracy that aims to exploit - this is the result ... 8 years of a dufus who plays pawn to the elite ...

And please recall that he was only re-elected by 1% of the national vote. 49% of America voted AGAINST his re-election. I was depressed for weeks after when he won. So many people were sorry about this that this website came about: http://www.sorryeverybody.com/gallery/single/se1996.jpg/ I remember reading this for hours and being so thankful that it wasn't only me feeling that way.

IS the US still the world's biggest polluter? As bad as the Americans are, China and India care a lot less about the environment and have much larger populations.

But Americans cosume a lot more and therefore waste more. Still, I don't know what the stats on this are.

And as far as China and India 'caring' a lot less about the environment...where did you get this? Or is this just an assumption?

America goes around acting and saying that it's the greatest country in the world. I guess one just expects more from them.

Also America is a first world country with the ability to do many things to help the state of the world. But they don't.

You'll note that I said "gross generalisation" in my original post. However, when a country is as wealthy as the US with as many resources available there can be no excuse for the general level of ignorance, especially on global issues.

i believe china is now the largest polluter - they were forecasted to surpass the US by 2012 but I think they've already done so ... but on a per capita basis china is nowhere close to the states ... nor canada for that matter ...
