Who is responsible for reversing the effects of global warming?

as i've pointed out in a previous thread, global warming specifically, but environmentalism generally, is a religion for the Godless. there is no science to it at all...if there was, they could concisely state what is the independent effect that humans have had on global temp (if you can even imagine an accurate measure) and compare that with other effects. instead of presenting us with facts, they tell us there's a consensus....great...
an interesting read...

for every link you post; i can post another to refute it. the problem here is lack of intelligence. you can't deny the ice is melting. you can't deny the temperature measured in corals. and you can't deny the way the earth reacted last time we didn't have ice cover.
if you'd like to continue; you can't deny those being evacuated due to rising waters. you can't deny that the worlds largest lake in africa is now a mud puddle. you can't deny the other lakes that have dried up and you can't deny that these lakes are releasing CO2 in large quanties and that the CO2 is hovering the ground and killing thousands of people. if you exhale you're adding to the problem. how can you deny that?0 -

Just like in the good old daze. ha ha ha
Anyway, the people who create the mess make enough money to just not care what happens to the planet as long as the planet keeps making them money. Ain't nobody going to do anything about global warming.
people are going to do something about global warming.....they're going to die. 2/3 of the earths population will die because of global warming.0 -

the government is passing laws like banning incandesent light bulbs and plastic bags; but it's not enough too late. gas should have been raised to $20.00/gallon and $15.00/gallon been donated to cleaning up the earth. if you want the government to get involved; that's the types of laws you're going to see.0 -

well my theory is that what we are experiencing is cyclic. mankind has not been on this earth nearly long enough to have observed climate change and come up with any definitive conclusions. do i think that we are contributing to this change? probably. it would be difficult not to refute any claim that mankind has not had an impact on his environment. am i freaking out about it? no im not. when snow disappears from the australian alps maybe then i'll have cause for concern.hear my name

Front page of the huffing post is ooo scary... and thought provoking at the same time.

you still can't deny how the earth reacted last time cate. i believe it was 55 million years ago but i'll check.0 -

sure i can deny anything given the chance.

obviously you didn't get the point of my post, or read the link....
i'll state it again, more bluntly. the environmentalist movement is a religion. we all want to matter, we all want to have meaning. the environmentalist movement has it all...again read the link. recycle, change a light bulb...save the world...yeah, go get 'em.
but if you REALLY cared about the planet...you'd be a vegan. b/c animal farts contribute WAY more c02 than evil capitalists do. the best way to stop global warming is to go vegan, not to stay away from bathing ourselves in oil....so while the means of the global warming argument may be righteous, the ends have no interest in solving the problem.
when you think about it in these terms...you really realize how ridiculous all this b/s is...seriously...and it's US (hate mongering conservatives) who are fear mongers? And you ask me what I want this year

what a crock of shite. first; the human body cannot survive on a veggie diet. that's why veggies look like walking death. and wouldn't that also mean more animals to fart?
second; i'm 100% solar which is more than i've heard anyone else here say they've done. my truck runs on used cooking oil so i've no need for crude oil products. i've donated close to $1 million to research and expeditions.
you can label the movement to inform you what's happening any way you want. by your deffinition; CNN and fox news must be a religion too.
as far as global warming is concerned; we need to tie these thick headed idiots to one of the sinking islands to prove to them that global warming is real. once the waters reach their mouths it may sink in. a child can look at a satellite photo from 2000 and another from 2006 and see the bloody ice is melting. a simple look back in history will show them how the earth reacted without ice cover.
you say the scientists are wrong? well bloody well right. the ice they said would be melted by 2050 is already melted. nasa watched 1250 sq miles of ice dissapear into the ocean within 3 weeks.
did man cut down trees that breathe in CO2 and expell O2? then that's one of mans contributions. did man make the internal combustion engine that filled the skies with Sulfer dioxide which caused the acid rain which kills the plants that filter the air? another one of mans contributions. the list goes on and on from landfills which produce methane to coal fired powerplants. can you show me where these things occur naturally in life?
to sum up who's responsable; it's the people that say global warming doesn't exist. those of us that have dedicated time to educate ourselves and look beyond the politics have done what we could do. why not wrap your mouth around your cars exhaust pipe for an hour; then come back and tell me man had nothing to do with our deteriorating planet. luckily the nay-sayers will die and we can start again. that's the up side of it.0 -

wake up cate. i need you to tell me how one can deny something they can see with their own eyes. like the islands off new guinea being evacuated due to rising waters.
my post above explains mans contributions. if man had nothing to do with it and it's simply one of earths natural cycle; give your heart to God because your arse is gone. from ice core and coral core samples; along with archeology; our current symptoms can be seen several times in history; just before a mass extinction. the last time this happened the ice cover melted within a decade. the methane produced by decaying matter rose the temperature even more. core samples drilled from the ocean floor in the artic circle contained ferns and other evidence that the artic was a tropics.
last time the earth wasn't covered with chemicals but there are a few places that man hasn't touched yet. people are moving more towards organic foods but these are the people trying to make a difference. and i must say there's way too few.
my climate model shows the earth will heal itself. the extra weight from the meltwater will start volcanic activity and the dust will block the suns rays. and this will happen within our lifetimes. time will tell if i'm right. if this is one of earths cycles; we're already dead.0 -

Also I believe calling the problem climate change is more accurate than simply warming. There are parts of the planet that get just as cold, but at slightly different times. Winter seems to be shifting up here, and staying later in the new year, which makes a difference for crops and animals.R.i.p. Rigoberto Alpizar.

pfft al, can you not tell when im being facetious? thats why i use the big big smilie face.<---- see he's funny, so he surely cant be serious. nor am i when i use his happiness.
i am well aware some things can not be denied when there is overwhelming evidence to support something.
are you aware of just how close to sea level those pacific islands are? a whale farting could put them underwater, not to mention a king tide. besides i'm not denying sea levels are rising. my parents live on an island in the pacific, so i do have a vested interest in the level of the sea. and before you ask, no ive not noticed an increase in sea level in regards to where my parents live. which gives me pause when other islands go under. makes me think what other factores are involved or do we simply put these islands' 'destruction' down to just rising sea levels?
i said last time it happened, i doubted mankind had much of an affect on global warming, or whatever the hell you want to call it. i say this knowing the huge progress mankind has made in the past 55m years and how when we look at what industrialisation has done to the planet we can see how detrimental we have been to the health of Earth. the technology wasnt around last time therefore tis evident(at least to me) just how much an effect mankind didnt have back then in comparison to now. so what the hell are you talking about?hear my name

thank you cate. i feel like you let me into your mind and i understand now. maybe i'm a wee bit slow. the islands off new guinea are just over a meter above sea level. here in the states; we don't notice the rise in sea level because of erosion. we only notice it when houses fall into the ocean or when someone is selling land and the survey comes up short. since our beaches are public; that rarely happens.
what i'd like to use as an example is ice core samples taken in the early 70's. they showed very high levels of lead. shortly after lead was banned in petrol; the levels dropped to pre automobile levels. this shows me the effect man can have on the earth without even knowing it.
the earth has had to deal with global warming (i hate that title too) several times in the past. each ended in disaster. like i've said; the time for pointing fingers ended years ago. all we can do now is prepare.
thank you for the well thought out reply.0 -

But I just recently got back to using re-usable shopping bags - I used to, then got away from it, and recently made up my mind to do it. Stores are helping by having re-usable bags available for 99 cents each. Just an example. I can drive a hybrid when I can afford to buy one next time I need a vehicle. I'm sure we can all think of something else to add.

this is where people get confused. the warming is in the oceans. when the poles get too warm; the water in the oceans don't "circulate" as they should. warm oxegen enriched water is drawn to the poles which then sinks and is drawn back to the equator. if we lose this process; the oceans become stagnent and everything dies. the warming is seen in the corals. corals are dying and growth rings show the warming almost like growth rings on a tree. the corals that are dying are dying because the water is rising and the sun can't reach the dept the corals are now in. corals depend on sun to survive. just go into a pet shop with a coral tank and you will see the light needed. the deeper the tank; the more intense the light needs to be. you will also see chillers which are like aircon units for water. corals cannot live above 70*F.
for now; places will get colder. melting ice gives off cold air and the winds move that air around the globe. as the air gets closer to the equator; it warms.
i think the proper wording should be global disaster.0 -

As I mentioned, I am going to suggest building a big boat and getting two of everything on board and then riding the swells until the little bird comes back with a branch in it's beak to allow me and my unwilling captives to get back on the land.
Now if I can just figure out how much food to take or have one of these gods let me know then I figure I've got it all figured out.
Care to join my cult or religion.
Before you get too carried away, yes I realize that when the ice melts that the ground will disappear and life as we know it will start to drown.

i found a place in the mountains with plenty of clean water and i'm self sufficient. unless the waters reach 5200 feet ASL i'll be fine. i have angora goats and llamas which produce wool for clothing; a greenhouse which produces the food i eat; and plenty of buffalo; deer; elk; grouse; and several other animals to eat. my 2 fishing ponds are full of trout which feeds my craving for seafood. my valley is miles wide and miles long.
i can't think of anything else i need.0 -

that's how i see it. as a little kid we only had 3 channels on the tele and most of the shows were westerns. so i naturally dreamed of having a ranch out west in the mountains. if i'm wrong about global warming; i still have my meat sales. so i figure i win either way.
as soon as i'm done rebuilding the stagecoach stop and open to the public; i'd love to have a friend from canada come visit.0
