My wife and I want to be more informed with the presidential race this year, specifically the candidates profiles, records, etc. The headline fluff we get from the networks and cable news stations don't really give an accurate representation of the candidates and it's hard for us to watch that much tv to gather the appropriate info. I'm sure there are several, but can anyone recommend a good website that will have profiles and important info on each of candidates? It's hard to know who to trus. Rolling Stone had a breakdown of all of these terrible things about each of the GOP contenders and it was hard to believe all of it, they were short little blurbs that sounded real bad but also could have been taken out of context to serve RS's bias. Thanks.

  • I have found the Council On Foreign Relations' "Candidates" section to be a great "non-partisan resource for information and analysis of presidential candidates" in 2008!

I say that tongue-in-cheek because the CFR is, well ... the CFR ...

that withstanding, it actualy is a remarkably unbiased compilation of myriad POVs & Platforms of all the candidates.

But after you are done there, google "CFR candidates" and find out which ones are NOT actualy owned by the CFR.
    (Hint: there is ONLY ONE!)

    :D:D:D

PS - i don't find this to be hypocritical either, because while i detest the CFR for their admited goal of MANIPULATING US policy ... they do post accurate information on their website... presumably both to keep up the "good" image, and also so their members can get the real information they need to select & back the "right" (read WRONG for you and me) candidates.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?
  • Each candidate has their own website. At least that way, you're hearing directly from the candidate on the issues. Every other site most likely has their own agenda. Which is not to say that each candidate has their own agenda as well. But at least you're hearing it from the source.

this is the best one i've seen. straightforward, & it seems unbiased.
