GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Hamas militiamen withdrew from the streets of the Gaza Strip on Monday and returned to their normal posts after the worst day of internal violence since Hamas took control of the Palestinian government in March.
In the West Bank city of Ramallah, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party enforced a general strike, closing shops and private schools in a show of force against Hamas. For its part, the Hamas-led government ordered all ministries closed to protest Fatah attacks on government buildings.
Fatah militants also released a Hamas official in the Finance Ministry they had briefly kidnapped, telling him his abduction was intended to send Hamas a message to end the Gaza violence, Hamas officials said. Hamas denied Fatah militants' claim that they had kidnapped a Hamas minister.
Gaza, the center of the violence that killed eight people on Sunday, remained tense Monday, and many shops were closed out of fears of renewed attacks.
The violence began Sunday morning when members of the Hamas-led government's 3,500-man militia confronted civil servants -- including members of the Fatah-allied security forces -- who were protesting the government's inability to pay their wages.

Definetly sad...because hamas are such peaceful people
Israel certainly has a right to exist in the eyes of international entities and occupants of foreign nations. However, our's are not the doors being kicked down by Israeli Defense Forces. It was not our place of residence granted to foreign peoples by a third-party governing body.
I believe that to the people of palestine and certainly the Hamas authority recognizing Israel as a sovereign nation justifies their expansion into the remainder of Eretz Israel. Accepting Israel's "right to exist" as the modern state is slightly different than what many Jews believe they are entitled to.
It would seem to the palestinian people, stating Israel has a "right to exist" essentially warrants Israel's expansion and the total conquering of Jerusalem. Logic applies differently to people affected and those bystanders such as ourselves.
I personally believe Israel has a right to exist in somewhat it's modern borders. However, I feel Israel needs to stop it's expansion and rule over the palestinian state. By controlling and limiting the tax revenue received by the Palestinian authority, Israel has caused a state of civil chaos in Palestine.
