Perhaps if the government goons got out of the way, insurance companies could legally bar you from getting insurance simply because you smoke. Furthermore, those goons often cap maximum rates, so they're not allowed to simply charge those "filthy bastards" the maximum for their own habit.
Insurance sucks, but government rules have made it far, far worse.0 -

I whole heartedly agree with you. Insurance companies are the biggest crooks out there, and gov't medling with them only makes it worse.0 -
Not that I'm trying to undermine the thread, but I think farting, perfume, cologne, southern accents, chalkboards, and feminism should also be banned.I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire0

It takes an extreme amount of willpower (which most people don't have) to be able to quit. You shouldn't hate them for not being able to do something (quit smoking) that most people physically can't do.
I pity them more than I hate them. Smoking is just a repulsive thing to do to yourself and others. And my god, that smell...
i am a fanatic smoker, but i agree that we must respect non-smokers.They are not obligated to breathe the smoke from our cigars. It's an addiction it's true, but you must not pity on us because it's not the only addiction in our lifes. There are many addictions-maybe less harmless- but very difficult to quit0 -
why is it that people will breathe exhaust without a second thought; yet worry about a little second hand smoke?0

My lord I actually agree 100% with you on the exhaust comment. But you have to agree that there is no better feeling in the world to be on a jam packed highway, stopped in traffic, smoke lit and as you take a drag you are daydreaming while looking through the yellow/brown haze of the exhaust.
On the other comment. Now they don't just use tobacco to make ciggies like in the good old days. When they were good for you. You've changed your place in this world!0 -

Smoking in public indoor places is harmful to the health of others. We're not asking for that smoke in our faces and we don't want it.
I'm a non smoker..and have problems leaving an establishment reaking of smoke and having to leave my clothes outside before going in the house...but I draw the line at banning smoking outdoors. Or eat a quarter pounder and supersized fries without a second thought. The truth is that is more harmful than smoking will ever be!“May you live to be 100 and may the last voice you hear be mine.” - Frank Sinatra0 -

i agree. i'm a smoker who'd like to quit but hasn't been able to. i was in the hospital with IVs in both arms and asked where i can smoke. i was told it's a smoke free campus and couldn't smoke anywhere. so i proceded to leave the property and was stopped at the door. i told them where i was going and what i planned on doing. after a few minutes a security guard showed up to escort me to my room. i let him know i spent 8 hours in emergency and 2 hours in the room and i'd have him by the throat before he could get near his pepper spray. by that time a doctor walked up and told everyone to let me go have a cigarette. 4 hours later i walked outside to find 3 other people standing outside on the corner in hospital gowns and robes smoking. to this day you can drive by that hospital and see people standing outside smoking.
i still can't see why it would be so difficult to dedicate 1 room as a smoking lounge; but i wouldn't argue with someone having a nocotine fit.0
