I think this just goes to show how nice of people christians around the world are, and the beauty of Christ's message. I havent seen any mosques saying this about GWB.

Church's 'Jesus loves Osama' sign criticised
By Matthew Moore
Last Updated: 8:01am GMT 01/02/2007

The Australian prime minister has criticised a Sydney baptist church for erecting a sign declaring that "Jesus Loves Osama".

The sign has been placed outside several churches in Sydney
The slogan, a reference to Osama bin Laden, the al-Qa'eda leader, has provoked a storm of controversy across the country despite its apparently Christian message of forgiveness.

Small print at the bottom of the sign urges churchgoers to "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you", a quotation from Matthew 5:44.

But John Howard, the prime minister, said that the church should have chosen a less offensive way of spreading its message.

"I understand the Christian motivation of the Baptist church," he said.

"But I hope they will understand that a lot of Australians, including many Australian Christians, will think that the prayer priority of the church on this occasion could have been elsewhere."

Peter Jensen, the Anglican archbishop of Sydney, said that the sign - which has been put up outside several churches in the city - was confusing and potentially offensive.

"There is a truth in it," he said. "But, "what we've got to say is, 'Jesus doesn't approve of Osama.' It makes it sounds like, 'Oh, Osama's doing the right thing'."

A spokesman for the Central Baptist Church told the Australian Daily Telegraph that it was merely "sharing the gospel".

He said: "Osama is the head of terrorism. We are saying that Jesus Christ loves everyone in the world, even this man. ... All we are doing is sharing the gospel

Yes, christians can be very nice and forgiving... Based on a lot of things that you've said on this board, let's hope that you can take a lesson from this church.

Jesus may love Usama... but, I'm guessing the vast majority of American Christians HATE him.
If they followed the teachings of their Messiah... maybe it would be different.

SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.

so love and forgiveness are offensive? i guess they could be if you don't want to be loved or forgiven.

It's funny, because if all Christians believed the entirety of the Bible, you'd still criticize them for being mindless idiots who believe all the animals in the world can fit on one boat.

Shopping cart religion? Call it what you want. Interpretation of the Bible is what separates the individual branches of Christianity.

Christians who tell non-christians they are going to hell, are going to hell, themselves, for saying that to non-christians.

BTW, I've been told that I look like jesus. Especially when my hair is long.

Nice. Sorry, but I'm not adhering to your stereotype of a right-wing, intolerant, "God Hates Fags" Christian. Understand that I couldn't care less what you believe. I respect your views... the only thing I ask is that you respect mine as well, which you clearly are not doing.

I love when people like you attack guys like miller or CorporateWhore for viewing any opinion but theirs as wrong, and yet you do the exact same thing. You give liberals like me and many others a bad name.

  • any human can understand what this church was trying to say.

Is it right or wrong? There is no answer to that - but I can understand why peope were offended by it.

I'm pretty sure that we all know the Old/New Testament was not to be taken literally in ever circumstance. There was no publishing companies (unless you want to pick your favorite roman scribe of the day) around the time before/during Jesus was to be on earth, so obviously we have no concrete proof that the words of the Old and New Testament are true at all...does not mean one cannot believe and follow them.

There are incredible parables and life lessons in the torah, the bible, the quran, etc....many of them incredibly share the same values. love your enemies. love your brothers. love everyone. love

this one guy i bet we've all heard of once wrote a song.
"I know it's already been sung. Love is all you need. All you need is love. Love."
