If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.

  • I was expecting to hear a round of applause afterwards.

    silly me.....what a stupid thought.
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

    please watch Frontline's "Bush's War"...

sadly, it explains "why" quite well...
  • The reason is all of us are allowing it to happen.

I wish it was that simple...

It does sorta boil down to that, though. Whatever happened to people being in control of their own government? (I'm talking about Ireland as well here, it's not just America.)

I believe the Bush Administration thought the outcome would be a free and liberated Iraq, with American Oil Companies selling the oil and the remaining number of troops (35,000) stationed in strategic and tactical forward operational bases in Iraq would be able to keep Iran in check (having a capitalist, secular Iraq on its Western Border, a free and democratic Afghanistan to the East).
    That was the plan.
There was no Exit plan drafted, because we would simply follow the map laid out in 1991... parades, George W. Bush Avenue in Baghdad, Haliburton stock through the roof... you know... all of that good stuff.
    ...
It is going to be difficult to get out. How do you get out... when the place is so fucked up?
The U.S. is the main source for Command and Control, Air Power, Intelligence, Security, medical, logistical support. Who is going to take over those? The Iraqi Command? WHAT Iraqi command? WHAT Iraqi Air force? How are supply routes going to be secured? Iraqi Security Forces? The same forces that are riddled with sectarian militia men?
This is Bush's legacy... the WORST foriegn policy blunder in American History... and the ranks amongst history's worst military decisions made by a leader along with Hitler's decision to open an Eastern Front and Napoleon's decison to attack Russia.
