I think the key is in recognising that Last Exodus is not the arbiter of time-well-spent!
Best post of the day!
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
i am not sure what 2004 protest is being brought up here...what was it? i was out of commission with reality in 2004.
didn't a number of protestors of the WTO just have a court decide that their constitutional rights were violated?
Apparently a movie is in the works also called "battle in seattle" starring Charlize Theron.
WTO was insane, two friends and I skipped class to go and managed to park near the needle. Later, the police closed of all access to the Seattle center for a few hours and we coudn't get home till that night, my buddy broke down and called his mom to tell her everything. She was livid, called our school to rat us out who in turn called our parents. Ech.
My favorite part was watching all the anarchists from Oregon take a nice peaceful protest and attempt to destroy my fucking city. Fucking up downtown and being nothing but obnoxious. Oooh no wait, my favorite part is watching the guy on the roof of Niketown kicking the sign over while wearing a pair on Nikes. Hillarious.
I got pictures somewhere, one with a Johnny Ramone look alike with a huge gabba gabba hey sign.
I love your vibe. It was great to see people taking time out of their day to stand up for what they believe in. The number of people expressing disgust with this war is growing bigger and bigger and that's something to definitely celebrate.
thank you, your vibe tends to be quite jazzy as well
i also agree that it is great to see the tides shifting dramaticaly against the war and occupation of iraq, hopefully the collective memory wont fade before the next inevitable aggression manipulated by the suits in Washington DC.

Anyone giving shit to a soldier is an asshole. I'm pretty sure we can all agree on that, no?
yes we can agree on that,
however, where do you draw the line? societies throughout history have shown a loyalty and admiration for their armed forces, and leaders, no matter how heinous their actions. i do not think i have to list the many examples of wrongful and unjust military actions, or the barbaric behavior and actions that resulted. but i would like to remind that these soldiers were always saluted, respected, and looked upon as hero's throughout these atrocities. so lets just make sure we are not the next great society that salutes our leaders and military while they wreak unspeakable havoc on other societies and their civilians. OR, have we already become that society? The people of Hiroshima, Nagasaki, South Asia, South America, Central America, and the Middle East may have a few words of wisdom on the matter.

Good point. Wrong is wrong no natter who commits it. Of course, spitting on someone is classless and accomplishes nothing. There are ways to demand more from people without disrespecting them.
If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Of course, there are assholes in any given group.
