If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

OMG! It's finally posted. The waiting drove me mad.... :D

Even though I was there, you know I will be watching it this weekend. It is packed full of good information. And since I start petitioning 6/7, it'll be fun getting all fired up - Nevermind, the hot and bothered bit. ;)

I start petitioning this weekend at the NRIS Nuclear Waste Summit in Columbia., SC... we had already signed up to attend this a while back, anyways. I figure if there's any ideal place to get lots of signatures for Nader, it will be there. I'm so fired up, too! :D

  • This guy thinks exactly like me...

    uncanny...
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

    Rad!

How did you find out about the Nuclear Waste Summit? Is it a national meeting, or one addressing the issues exclusively of South Carolina?

Seems like a great place to petition. When Ralph Nader was here, he discussed a little bit about Nuclear Energy and how the issue of the waste was never a consideration in plans as far as cost goes. I'll keep an eye out for the youtube of it, but you seem to be pretty damn good at finding that stuff.

We have Hanford here in WA state and it's polluting the shit out of the mighty Columbia River.

On Petitioning: What's your state's rules for getting Ralph on the ballot?

We have to hold "Nominating Conventions" and are restricted to exact locations published as public notices for a given period of time. We only have to get a 1,000 signatures to get him on the ballot, but they come 100 at a time. So, if we only get 99 signatures at one "Nominating Convention" none of them count. Ugh!

What really sucks about this is that it leaves people in rural areas out of the process. It's voter disenfranchisement IMO.

We joined the NRIS a few years back at a peace rally in Asheville, NC and ever since then have been on their mailing list. I'm not sure what's going on in other states right now but as far as I know this is exclusively a SC thing.

About the petitioning here in SC...from what our coordinator has passed on, we only need to get each person's name, address, voter registration number or ssn and their voting precinct. We need 10,000 signatures in all but are shooting for 20,000 because we know how they love to throw out all the ones they think they can get away with. Ours doesn't sound anywhere close to as complicated as yours does...thank god. :o

Good luck and have fun out there! :)

How could I not. I'm part of TEAM BROADWAY which makes me want to make a t-shirt and play that Sir-Mix-A-lot clip each time I head out. :p

Rick Friel, who used to play with Mike McCready in Shadow and the Rockfords is a volunteer - total plus.

And, I get to petition at Pridefest, which I am totally looking forward to. :D

Please keep us all updated on your experiences and progress.

Now I totally have that song and that thread running through my head...and am strangely craving Lucky Charms. Rhino will be proud of us. :D

And I will definitely let you know how the progress goes and you do the same. We gotta keep each other encouraged and focused! :)

what is this!?!?!? straight answers and talk from a politician??? where was all the flash? striking contrast to obama youtube clips of dodging questions and not answering

again, this guy NEEDS to be in the debates, he'd mop the floor w/ obama, clinton, mccain.....

wonder when parts 5 and 6 will be put up?
    standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
    eager to identify with
    someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

Yes he needs to be...but Nader has the spot he should be in. A younger charismatic guy like Gonzalez would fare much better than Nader will in the election.

you gotta start somewhere, i think gonzalez will be the future of the progressive movement

however, nader has always held his own in debates or talks. i can't think of many ppl more articulate and knowledgeable than him

I hope so. He's seems pretty busy in San Francisco, but also dedicated to the good of the people.

    We'll see...
