    Whoops! :)
    NERDS!
  • The war was based on bullshit and so is this line of thinking that we have to stay over there for however long. They don't give a shit. It's all about controlling their oil for as long as we can....period.

I think that most people understand it, yet there are so many other distractions on the home-front that most people tend to worry about other things unfortunately. :(

they are tools, the policy planners. the level of propaganda they are exposed too is nothing compared to what you and I have to deal with. They are told what to think, and the good little subjects are rewarded with higher posts. thqats what Mccain is betting on.

Yeah, I agree and that is sad...especially when we can't take the time to really think about all the death and destruction this war is STILL causing....not to mention the costs of it. And for what?

If you have a close friend or family member in Iraq, then the war is priority for you. If you don't ; Gas, economy, immigration, morality seem to be the hot issues. Most people just don't give a rat's ass about the war if no one they know are dealing with it. It just gets ignored and people go on trying to live their lives.

I don't think I ever heard that oil wasn't a (one of many) factor in this war. why do u sound so surprised?

So what can you do to get people to care about others? others halfway around the world? are we really that cold and callous?

    The truth hurts . . . unfortunately :o

You have to realize that 83% of people that are on this pit would rather have a new PJ album instead of the war ending :p :(

Me too. We are in the good 17% ;)

I know that comment was a little ridiculous, but the attitude of many is that "Well, George Bush is in office ,the war won't end, what do we do?"

Well, that depends. Will the album be released on 180 gram virgin vinyl and sourced from the original analogue master tapes, with Steve Hoffman doing the mastering? :D:D

    I kid, I kid.

I'd bet 70 % of Americans would rather save American Idol from being canceled; rather than doing something that would help stop the war.

whats that suppose to mean? Oil has always been a factor in any of our affairs in the middle east. Iraq is no different.

I forgot how much you like McCain. Most see this information arising much differently than yourself.

    thats wrong actually.

obama voted to set a withdrawl date, the bill passed the house and senate and was VETO'd by Bush. mccain voted against it.

also, obama could have voted in 2003, he was at the state level at that time.

you might want to read up before hopping in the ring

Duh to me and you maybe but for a republican to say that so openly, in front of a large crowd....now that is rare.

And isn't that the kind of Republican the U.S. needs? Unless you want to stick with your old school cronies...

Its crazy to think that the control of the world's largest oil reserves was not a priority during the planning of the war.

It's not news i guess, but they keep saying little things in round about ways that confirm that what we thought was right all along.

they hate our freedoms, they have WMD's, they are harboring Al Qaeda and the smoking gun will be a mushroom cloud in the US. Nobody ever mentioned oil, it was assumed by many, but couldn't be sold as a reason for war.

Red state America was ready to kick some terrorist ass.

I don't think I ever heard one of the pro-war politicians ever admit the occupation of Iraq had anything to do about securing our oil interests.

I thought it was about how Barack Obama is a Muslim (who hates America) and attends a Christian church by Rev Wright (who hates America)?

    Remember those moronic comments:
"If the war in Iraq was about oil.. why are gas prices going up?"
    ...
They are going up BECAUSE of the War in Iraq... you fucking idiot!!!
    ...
I mean... it's just so fucking obvious... isn't it? What DON'T these fucking idiots understand? Well, other than simple fucking logic, that is.

I remember those comments posted here, even. And the WMD debate went on long after we didnt find any. Then it was how Saddam was an evil man who funded terrorists.

I was curious as to the opinion of those types upon hearing this come out of John McCain's mouth.

But it really doesn't matter anyways. They have sold yet a new rationalization to the the public. And this one is all 'humanitarian' so who can say no? We have to stay there indefinitely because we broke the country. We have to stay there and continually break the country even more, build more hostility, in a place where we aren't even wanted and arm both sides of a civil conflict that we have a vested interest in prolonging.

think the war in Iraq has nothing to do with oil prices. Exxon recorded the highest profit by a company ever. Twice in 2 years.

Seems the oil prices are going up simply because the oil companies are raising them.
