Executive Privilege.

Did you know that "executive privilege" was spawned in the case of "The United States vs Nixon" when Watergate special prosecutor Leon Jaworski demanded audio tapes Nixon had recorded in the Oval Office?

Did you know that "executive privilege" was used by Bill Clinton in the Lewinsky trial, and that it was not granted?

Did you know that "executive privilege" is only to be used when the information requested can be shown to undermine national security?

Does anyone else see a problem with this picture?

  • And from my understanding, executive privilege should only cover correspondence between the president and his aides... not some low level lackey that is asked a question about what his job entails...

Seriously, Bush could walk around washington wearing a shirt that says "fuck you" and holding both middle fingers in the air, and he would be showing congress and the american people more respect.

Did you know that there is already a thread about this topic?

Did you know that with Clinton, the courts ruled his staff had to testify? Let's see the same thing with Bush.

Did you know executive privilege started well before Nixon - in fact Washington and Jefferson exercised such a privilege?

This is not a new concept.

Apparently you thought it started during the Nixon administration, so I wanted to point out that it has been used from the beginning.

It was given name during the Watergate scandal. I was aware that it has been used in the past...

Just seems to me it is only used when an Executive cabinet member is being accused of a crime.
