This thread's for early voters to share their experiences at the polls. How's everything going? Smoothly? Ballot machines working okay? Any trouble/harrassment outside the polling station? I'm just curious to know, from across the pond.

  • i voted yesterday in orlando florida. went very smoothly, it was very organized. i encourage everyone to go early, or vote by mail to avoid the onslaught on nov 4. everything was great, friendly, no trouble, no one outside spewing garbage pulling for either candidate. voted by pen and had my ballots scanned and accepted by a computer. in and out in ten minutes.

edited to add link about new optical scan machines in florida: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/21/florida.vote.count/index.html

Very easy, voted in bed without a shirt on while listening to No Code. Mailed it in this morning.

No issues here in Waco. My wife & I went after class and I think that we were the only ones under 35 that were voting at that time. She said that it felt like we were getting a lot of looks, but I didn't feel that way. Oh well..I'm just glad that we went early!

my state has mail-in ballots only, so things are fabulous. my ballot, and my two voter guide books (one for ballot measures, one for candidates) are here at my place. i'm going to drink some hot apple cider with booze to celebrate while i vote. a very exciting and successful early vote, indeed.

Really smooth process here. Filled out a form, received a card to slide into the machine, voted by touch screen, verified it on the screen, then again on paper. I was out of there in ten minutes, very pleased!

yeah it took all of 10 minutes to re-register and vote. I live in a small town and was actually kind of surprised out how clean the whole process was. very easy.

although it was fill in the circle with a pencil type of voting, and I'm still not sure how accurate those machines are that read those.
  • I filled out my ballot yesterday, decked out in my wonderfully furry blue fleece robe. I sent it off back to Michigan today. Paper ballots should be the way this is done, no doubt. Technology can me mighty fine, but it can be very dangerous as well. I think voting needs to be kept simple.

    And now, I wait...

I plan to vote early but haven't done so yet.

Yesterday's paper said early voting lines have as much as a two-hour wait.

Also, there is an early voting site at the university and the school paper had a letter to the editor today from a guy who voted early at that location. He said he almost got kicked out for talking about politics with his friend while waiting in line.

That's all I have to report so far. :)
  • Went and voted on tuesday. Went smoothly for me. I had to wait in line for an hour though, and i was the only person there under 60. I dont' think the old folks were very good with the electronic voting thing so that's what took forever

Hey! I voted in Waco on Monday! Didn't know there was another Wacoan on the board. My experience was easy, when I was checking the last page to triple check that I voted for Obama this weird sense of patriotism overcame me and I felt like I needed to salute or something. Hopefully good things will happen on Nov. 4!
