Well, they start off admitting that the questionnaire were done after the women had been diagnozed with cancer... In other words, they haven't found anything, other than that women with cancer may not have as positive an outlook on life as their cancer-less sisters. I mean, who'd have known?
I guess they would have felt silly having wasted all that time and resources on a meaningless result, so they went ahead and published it anyway.
I am talking as a person who has statistics for a job, and this is really nothing. Flawed research if the goal was to determine whether attitude can affect later disease.

why "load of shit" ?
I'm a scientst and I usually try to find a logical answer to everything. But for the cancer, it seems possible that the psychology has much to do...

Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

It's actually pretty logical. Cancerous cells can be destroyed by your immune system, when you're happy some hormones are produced in higher quantities than when your meh or stressed. These hormones tend to stimulate your immune system and hence protect you from cancer.
i'm torn between my desire to be happy, and my hatred of happy people.
