i honestly don't know what to make of it. The guy has an alleged history of being a good ol' southern boy. There has been talk the last couple of years about him and his confederate fetish and interest. I've heard mixed reports on the radio here of some things he has said. The Cav daily...student newspaper at UVA had this http://www.cavalierdaily.com/CVArticle.asp?ID=27853&pid=1482 piece in it today. Sabato, I believe has since retracted that saying he never heard him say it, he only heard that he said it. The thing a lot of people are wondering is, "why now". A few people are coming forward and saying he did the deer head thing, used the "n" word, and was disrespectful to minorities... coupled with the whole maccaca thing, people are either going to say he's racist or just an inconsiderate asshole. People are wondering why it took so long for such a public figure to have these accusations brought against him. There is something about him that rubs me the wrong way. This is a guy who a year ago was a leading candidate for the GOP in 08, and now he'll be lucky to be a contender at all. There's a lot of finger pointing right now and people are trying to sort out the details. They don't even know if some of the stuff happened. And of course, both sides are pulling out their character witnesses saying that he would or wouldn't do something like this.

I guess this is just the beginning for the political year. The cover of the new york times showed a ton of negative campaigning already beginning...it's gonna be ugly this election year.
